This appears to be all I need for towing. Does any one have any opinion on this product. I can get one for about $260. Seems like most of the tuners have a bunch of stuff I don't need or want.

Another product that seems like a good idea for climbing steep grades is the methanol/wtr. injection, especially in the summer at over 110 deg. I just happen to have 55 gallons of methanol cause I use it for racing.

Most of the time my truck does just fine but some of the grades pull me down to 45 mph and then impatient people try passing when they shouldn't. I like to drive between 55 and 65 which is still too slow for some individuals but 45 is just too slow period.

Opinions, suggestions?

I have an Edge Juice (with Attitude). Level 1 (Economy) is fine empty but with a load it blows. Level 2 (towing) is just right with my camper on the back. Level 3 is more power on hills but costs me fuel. I haven't used the Mileage Max but I assume it will use a similar tune.

(Level 2 provides more power and better fuel economy over stock. About 2mpg. )

Thanks for the reply Road Dog. The Mileage Max does seam to be limited. I just got excited about the price but if it's not what I need it's a waist of money. I like that you are getting +2 mpg with the Edge Juice with Attitude. We have basically the same trucks so maybe I'll go that way.

The edge ez I believe is the same as the juice on level 2 or maybe 3. some one chime in if i am wrong.

I know that the edge juice with out tapping the pump wire is the same as the edge ez but it has the gauges, and safeties.

just a thought though, last summer I had a similar experience, 70,000 miles on the truck, about 7500 pound camper in tow, pulling Rt80 in PA, I was ready to trade it in at the truck stop, I couldn't keep up speed, constantly dropping gears, mileage was at 10. 5.

I had some issues in Indiana, lift pump changed out at a *******, problems all the way to Wi. Long story short, Injection shop in Wi pulled the injectors and they tested bad, 13. 5 MPG on the way home, never dropped a gear all the way back.

just my . 02 cents.

The mileage max will give no appreciable performace improvement. TheXZT+ give about 60 hp (same timing advance as the max but with some fueling. They are the same hardware and the max can be upgraded to the XZT with just SW changes. I didn't like my Max b/o an unusual engine shutter. PM me if you want mine cheap.

The Edge Mileage Max and Quadzilla Max Mileage Module are rated to give 30hp and 60ft/lbs over stock as they are only timing boxes (hence the intended mileage improvement). Although slight, there is a noticeable "seat of the butt" performance increase and a slight mileage improvement. I spent just under $200 for my Quadzilla MMM and it's probably paid for itself. With a mostly stock auto transmission, I feel comfortable driving and towing with this slight increase in hp/torque.

Just my 2cents.

On my Quad XZT+ I can't feel much difference in the Max mileage mode (which is timing only). Once you switch into the HP mode, or whatever it's called, you can really feel the difference. This is supposed to give an extra 60HP with timing advance + fueling. I don't like the feel of this though as it surges a little in CC and isn't as smooth as MAX Mileage only.

As for whether the Quad MAX Mileage really works i'm getting 23+MPG on a 125 mile commute to work. This is figured with pen & paper so it's good.

Well, the Quadzilla MMM is in the mail. If it's not enough it has a usb port to upgrade to 70 HP. $160 is right up my alley.

Another option.

Consider a used Edge EZ w/boost elbow( or J hook) and some new Bosch RV 275's. Vastly greater performance and a decent mileage booster also. No noticeable smoke increase. With injector install and parts you'll be well under a $1,000.

does the Edge ez do timing

does the edge juice do timing

on another thread there was some discussion of cold weather rough starts due to a lack of timing from the ez

I believe it works by altering timing and duration. The three jumper settings control when the fueling cuts in. I kept mine at the middle setting inside the box itself. I always baby my truck until it warms up some. Edge must have sold thousands of these gems. Combine it with the RV 275's and you have a great running truck which won't tear up the drivetrain. My buddy down the street has been running that combo for ten years now. He has a competitor's box that is unavailable anymore which performs the same. I would install an egt gauge with any upgrade.

I installed the Quadzilla MMM and the engine does pick up rpm's much quicker, especially above 2000 rpm. I also noticed that there was no smoke behind me like before. I'll hook up the toyhauller and pull it up the mountain tomorrow and see if there is any improvement where it counts. Advancing the timing on a gasoline engine makes a big differance but I had to run 91 oct. with oct. booster to keep from destoying it. My goal is 55 mph in 5th gear with a full load, ( 20,000lbs ). I don't want to loose mileage in the process. The truck pulls fine on most hills but the steeper grades is where I need the power.

The Edge Mileage Max will do you a good job and you will not need to wory about your trany. == good luck ==

well I took it up the mountain and it still pulls down to 45 mph. That's where the peek torque is in 5th gear which is around 1700 rpm's. The truck pulls through the gears much better with the Quadzilla MMM but I still need more power for the steep inclines. It was 108 deg. when I pulled the mountain which doesn't help plus the wind was against me but this is all the stuff that I have to overcome so I'm wondering what the next step should be.

With the heat more fuel may just cause too high of temp's in the turbo which is counter productive. I may try the wtr/meth injection.

"Peak" torque is more of a plateau and, under load, my truck is happier over 2,000 rpm where the turbo can spool up and move some air through the engine. Cooler EGTs too.

I believe my rpm's are around 2100 in 5th gear at 55mph. It just gets pulled down as the climb gets steeper. It's supposed to be 80 deg. tomorrow morning so I'll get up before sunrise and see if the colder air makes a difference. It's only a 20 Mile round trip.

If you're losing rpm on the climb then it's time to gear down.

I'll have to try 4th gear at 55 now that the timing is advanced. The engine sure runs better above 2000 rpm's now. It goes right to 3200 unloaded when before it really took its time getten there.

Non of this is really necessary. I'm going past big rigs and underpowered rv's as it is. 45 mph is no problem.
