Mileage of 07 Automatics with 5.9 engines?

I'd like to hear what kind of economy the stock (no aftermarket programming) equipped 07's with 5. 9 engines are getting - primarily the automatics with 3. 73 rear axle ratios, and hand calculated results (overhead is not believable).



I realize there is a break in period - I have 23,000 miles on mine. I drive 60 miles a day with my 6. 7 and the best highway mpg was 19. 3, and it happened twice and it was Pre-AX flash (running with the G30 recall updates).



Since the AY flash and work done to address the P2262, a steady 60-65 mpg with no load has been around 17 (highway only) and that is very non-agressive cruise control on flat roads with no wind and about 70-75F. Hand calculated overall struggles to break 16 mpg. This is with new oil and filters, new fuel filter, etc. Tire pressures correct, etc. Thanks.

On the highway trip (500 miles) when I brought mine home it got 22mpg (US gal, hand calculated) which was 26 mpg (Imperial gal). That was with a dirty air filter, which I replaced it when I got home. It was bone stock then. I have since added the Hypertech Max Energy, but haven't done a similar trip to compare to this point.

I have had a consistent 20 MPG around town (stop and go/freeway mix). If I work it a little harder I have seen as low as 17 MPG, but the flip side is that it is possible to get 21/22 MPG on long highway cruises. All of these figures have been hand calculated and no load on the Rams back.

I have a 3500 Mega 4X4 with dual rear wheels. Driving 65 mph I average 17 mpg. All in town driving and it drops to 14 mpg. This is all hand calculated.

Part of my problem is a transmission going south, but, I never see better than 13. 5. When the truck was new it got around 15.

i get 15-16 driving town to work and 17-17. 5 on highway at 65 with 8oz. of power service (gray bottle) added to each tank its good for about 1 mile more to the gallon. all hand cal. and driving easy my is heavy @8980lbs.

I get an average of about 18mpg (overhead says 24. 5..... it lies!!!!!!!) that is a mixture of highway and city driving. I also use the power service in the silver jug.

Man, that's some good mileage with a 6. 7! Better than my '07 5. 9 when it was stock! I never got over 15. something with stock rubber and 3. 73's (except one tank IIRC).



Now my average is around 12-13...

I have around 35000 miles on my '07 5. 9, auto, 4X4, 3. 73, Quad cab, and get 11. 8 to 14. 2 mpgs, hand calculated, over the last 15,000 miles, driving 55 one way highway miles, with no city traffic. I have Smarty Jr, and have tried it from 1 to 3 and back to stock and the mileage doesn't change enough to matter, but I like the power, so have been running it on #3. I am running a little heavy 100% of the time.

Just filled up tonight. I got 23. 6 MPG hand calculated. The overhead trip computer came up with 19. 7. Go figure. I double checked my figures. I do drive light on the throttle, but that seems way to good to be true. Could my odometer be off? I'm bone stock by the way and just passed 36K.

My truck is not set up for mileage but I get 17-18 on the highway and 14-16 combination.



I did try a economy run tucked in behind a semi for 110 miles doing 60MPH and saw 18. 5, but man that was painfull!

GCP, Apparent anomalies can happen for lots of reasons, many of which are related to invalid data.



Determining what might have been invalid data is "needle in haystack" effort.



Easy & reliable solution is continue measuring new performance and if new data results conform to predictable normals then treat the anomaly data measurement as just that, an unexplained anomaly.



The apparent anomaly becomes "worth it" to figure out if continued performance measurements show unexpected higher results.

The '07 QC, factory stock everything, Odo now 20k miles, just finished 9K mile trip in 1 month, west coast to midwest twice, light load about 800 lbs.



80 mph high plains & mountain with varying 10-20 mph winds, 15-16 mpg.



55-65 mph state highways with easy conditions, 20. x mpg.



The easier the driving conditions the closer the overhead mpg aggrees with hand calculated.

wait till around 40k. Its like a switch is flipped. I run stock programming every once and a while and both my crds started getting marked better economy after about 40 k. Very wierd. i was getting around 16. 5 to 17. 5 city hwy avg. in both and after rolling around 40k I started breaking 20. I have 3. 73 rear end in both. The first one I babied as it was a third vihicle and my 07 has been flogged on with heavy loads with same result. I dunno...

This could be a very valid number. I did some good fuel mileage testing over the summer. Running from Moran, WY to Jackson, WY (60+ miles round trip) I consistantly averaged 23. 5 mpg. These are HAND CALCULATED numbers and I produced them no less than 5 times in a row. This is also at high elevations (Moran 6850ft, Jackson 6200ft). By the way my overhead computer was dead nuts almost everytime +-. 2. I have pledged never to let a Dodge tech plug into my truck for fear they might reflash something.
