Do you think the highe cost of Diesel will finally

turbo diesel CR Theory

I have a 07 2500 with the 5. 9 in it. This weekend I took a trip to Fargo, ND. This was about a 340 mile trip. On the way up there I had about a 30 mph head wind. Driving 70 with interstate all the way. When I got up there I filled the truck and got 16. 5 mpg bucking the wind. When I drove home there was no head wind and filled it again and got 21. 2 mpg. These were both hand calc. I am really impressed with my truck. I have 4000 miles on it since I got in July.

I have found that if I drive at 1800 and 2000 rpm she seems to do the best. (sweet spot):)

And it should get better as time goes by. Have the same year as you do with an auto and it gets great mileage on long trips, however; when pulling that 7000lb TT behind it, it does tend to drop just a tad. But wouldn't own another truck after getting this one.

Mine has an overall average of 17. 4 mpg for the first 25,000 miles. That includes some towing of a 20' skiff with T-top. The T-top creates a lot of windage and I get about 12-13 mpg towing it. My last 3 tanks have averaged 18. 5 mpg for general commuting. The best was 19. 6 mpg on a long trip from Raleigh, NC to Columbus, OH. I was hoping for 20 mpg, but didn't quite get it. Oh yeah, I only drive 65 mph.

On my trip home I started out driving 65mph for the first 100 miles at about 1700 rpm. The overhead showed 19. 6 mpg. I decided that I will try driving the speed limit (70). This was at 1950 rpm. The over head started moving up after a few miles. Finally after a couple of hours driving at that speed it showed 21 mpg. When I got home and filled it and hand calculted it, it came out to 21. 2.

Towing my 8000 lb 5th whl I have gotten 11 at the lowest and 13 for the best. I still really love these trucks and what they can do over a gas engine. I just wish the fuel prices were better.

Just turned 11k miles, last 7k miles continous hauling fixed load of 3000 lbs gravel for engine break-in. Hand calculated, 65 mph, 18. 2 mpg. I'm guessing empty truck should get to 21+ mpg.
