My friend is looking at a 99 CTD. The owner has told him that he pulled the fuse for the gauges at one time, therefore not putting miles onto the odometer. I was under the impression that even with the fuse pulled that the mileage is stored on the trucks computer somewhere, and that it could be read with the right tool... is this true? Can we find out just how many miles are really on this truck before he buys it?

Thanks, Josh.

The stealer can hook it up to their magic computer scanner thing and read mileage on the ECM.

I know of a Dodge mechanic who rolled back odometers for people for beer money (He no longer works for dodge) and he told me that on at least a 97 he did he not only had to change the dash odometer but had to go into the trucks computer and change it there too.
