I know this has been hashed a bit, but had a chance to do a nice controlled mileage run. Mostly highway, but through the coastal mountain range. So, some up and down and on/off accelerator through the turns. A pretty good test. 204 miles and 12. 6 gallons for 16. 2 MPG hand calculated. Overhead read 16. 6. Truck had a small load in the bed, but was pretty light with 3 people in the cab.

6700 miles on the odometer. Hopefully, things will improve as I get more miles on the truck.

Just finished a round trip from Albuquerque to Roswell NM this weekend. Unloaded 75 MPH or so average, 550 miles Hand calulated to 18. 7 MPG. The 'Lie-O-Meter' would read 19 or so. This was a combonation of mountian and flat country driving with 60 miles of slow speed and Hot Air Balloon chasing.

Round trip 3400 miles from SW Mo. to Hadley Mass and back. Empty 7' x 16' enclosed up and lightly loaded back, about 1500 pounds. Average speed by the GPS, 62 mph, average mpg 10. 2 hand calculated. 5900 miles on the odometer after the trip.

It's totally amazing that you can get that good of mileage with a V10 gasses doing 75 MPH. Did you have an 80 MPH tailwind? I can't get near that good with my 05 Cummins nor did I get that good with my 12V 95 Cummins at 75 MPH.

read down a little at the "07. 5 3500 Quad, SWR, 4X4, 6. 7 68RFE Dark Gray Metallic, Laramie, Sun roof, Bully steps, Reese 20K. "

Sorry for not being more clear about the ride. how ever the V-10 Gasser will get 14 to 14. 5 at 75 over the course of 600 miles (to the south end of the state and back, empty of course) (Have done it several times). Towing on the other hand you migh as well have a large funnel, but the truck is still real fun to drive.

Does the V10 gasser get about the same mileage as a Furd V10. The Furd is a little smaller engine.

I have several 'friends' that have the FERDS and they report similar mileage figures except when towing. My Gasser won't pass up a chance for fuel when towing, the Ferd guys show they are getting around 10 with the same load. If the wind blows they both get the same, louzy.

Just got back from a camping trip to the Land Between the Lakes in KT. Round trip was 930. 1 miles fuel added 85. 85 gallons, worst mileage was 9. 72 against a head wind and 14. 38 with no load. Traveling home 10. 8 Total average was 10. 8 OHD read 10. 6. I am very happy with this since considering I am pull a 10K 5er and a 8500 lb truck. The best my 2001 Chevy 6. 0L could ever achieve was 9 Miles to the gallon pulling the 5 er.

I'm getting a little under 10mpg. I only have <4000 miles on the odo so I'm not broke in yet. When the '04 was new I was running between 8 and 9. So far this one is better. Once the '04 was fully broke in it would get around 11. We'll see if this one jumps that much.

Remember that wind resistance is SQUARED as you double your speed. Try driving between 45 and 50 mph like you have a raw egg between your foot and go pedal... ... ..... I think you will be VERY pleasantly surprised. If you don't have the patience for that just use the cruise control. If I drive 60 to 75 mph, my fuel mileage goes into the toilet too.

if you got 18. 7 and the overhead is just over 19, that is not a bad difference for the two. its almost worth trusting on your truck.

I have pretty impressed with how close it is over the long haul. I document every Gallon of fuel and mile that I put on the truck and periodicaly go back and Hand check totals and trip results. I don't reset the 'Lie-O-meter' every tank full, instead I leave it to run averages for several weeks or for trip references, it seems to be closer to a true average.
