Dear Folks,

First tank got 17. 3 mpg. Not bad. Hope it gets a bit better.

About 1/2 highway and the rest around town, no load.

Got the EGT and boost gauge connected. No problems. They work fine, but, a bit of sweat getting the turbo off before tapping for EGT. 2002/4wd/4. 10. Best regards, wb

wbrown,

I have found with the 5spd, how fast you are driving makes all the difference. My 2000 will get 20-21 between 55-60, but then drops to 18-19 at 65 and 17-18 at 70. This is with straight pipe and K&N filter. Automatics even with the 4. 10 seem to do a little better than that... beats the 8mpg I used to get with the old 460 in our 1 ton Ford.

wbrown,

I just calculated my fuel mileage for all tanks of fuel consumed. I get 19. 35 mpg on average. That would include some towing, mountain drives, and commuting to work. My trip computer has been historically low by about 1. 5 mpg so you should calculate your actual mpg yourself to find the true number. I just change injectors and now my trip computer reads abou 2mpg high.

Sorta fun, playing around with these MPG computers - had one on my '85 vette too - but in my new truck, fuel mileage will drop from 20 MPG clear down to 16 MPG if I increase speed from 60 to 70 MPH - that's empty and on the freeway...

WAY too many fellas buy these newer truck because of the extra power, speed and comfort - THEN bi+ch and whine when they USE those advances and their fuel consumption increases...

If'n yer gonna DANCE, ya gotta pay the FIDDLER, fellas! :p ;) :D
