Damn I love that Milemarker hydraulic winch. I was offroading in the back-country of Kauai and broke the front axle on my Y2K(see post in 24 valve area). If it had been an electric winch, I'd be looking at a new pair of batteries soon and would have had to work into the dark waiting for the batteries to recharge and the motor to cool off. It took me over 3 1/2 hours to get out as it was. Lots of mud and mud holes with no 4WD. The only thing I wish is that I could afford a PTO and pump instead of using the power steering pump, but it does ok. I would just feel better about it. I still havn't found anyone who has personally burned up a power steering pump. Just guys who know guys who heard ... .
There was a good side though... .
I had just installed a 4 chanel wireless Remote control for the winch that I designed, built then installed the week before, so got to smoke test it. Worked without a glitch. 2 chanels are for in and out and the other 2 are for a future add-on... . Idle up/ Idle down.
Aloha Jim
