I wonder if the VM 2. 8 and 5 speed auto is the same from the Liberty CRD's. If so its a great combo - have one in an 05 with good power and MPG.

AEV is importing them, little pricey, but if it is what you want, good place to go I have never heard anything bad about their work.

You buy the vehicle assembled minus the engine, and then buy the engine and title it yourself to get around the emissions regs.

Wow, nice link Dave. They are actually located in the mother country, aka Montana! However, from the forum, the financing link, and your comments it sounds more than I can afford to lay out.



I did come across some other links on stuffing the VM 2. 8 in a Rubicon. Once upon a lifetime ago, I stuffed a V6 into a Willys wagon. It was a job, but turned out nice. The VM sounds like a decent motor with a long history and numerous applications.



I'm currently checking out trading off the Subaru wagon for either a used Liberty CRD or a Toyota Tacoma pickup. Sounds like love/hate with the Liberty CRDs due to the window regulators, ball joints, and TC shudder. So it will most likely end up being another Toyota rust bucket
