I can't believe how powerful this drill is!! It has an 8. 0 Amp motor that stops for no man.

It's almost useless as a screwdriver, since even if you blip the trigger it will still strip out whatever you are driving. it takes a while to spin down.

It's also very lightweight. i can use it with one hand, as if it were a light 3/8" rechargeable. I wouldn't recommend going one-handed if you are drilling something that might bite you-- this thing will twist your wrist something bad if you aren't careful.

I got the one with the grip-lock chuck. It's keyless and stout.

I like this drill so much, I might soon be looking at other Milwaukee power tools-- they seem to be very strong, well-made tools.

Now I just need to get that Orbital Super Sawzall--- (11 Amp motor!)

I've had a Magnum for over five years, great drill. Buy mostly Milwaukee power tools but the Porter-Cable Tiger Saw is far better than a Milwaukee Sawzall plus it's cheaper.

What makes the Tiger Saw better?? I like the Milwaukee stuff, but if there's a better value to be had, I would jump ship in an instant.

I am only brand loyal when the brand has proven it. I also don't carry it across lines necessarily-- meaning, i might now really like Milwaukee drills, but they don't get the same favorite status for something like a skil saw or jig saw. .

That 1/2" Magnum has the power of a monster drill in the size of a 3/8"-- why didn't someone make this drill before?

I will check out the Tiger Saw, Illflem. How do you feel about the other Porter-Cable power tools? I have heard a lot of praise for them as well. .

Milwaukee

I like my red tools a lot. Nuthin' like pulling out a tool you can rely on when there is work to be done. Starting with 12v cordless drills I've purchased a number of Milwaukee stuff. Haven't found anything that wiil stop my "Supersawzall", not even a "02 Ram:D

I like my reds, but have started leaning towards Bosch stuff.

1/2" drill could break your hand, in the wrong place, I think.

I bought a Tiger Saw, took it back, the dern thing shook so bad you couldn't keep ahold of it, fluke maybe. I traded it for the Bosch Reciprocating saw, I REALLY like it!!!! Smooth and powerful.

Nothing I have ever runs beats the Bosch Saber saw, they really did their homework.

Avoid the 29. . 99 tinker toys, good tools are worth the the money.

Hahn, the P-C is lighter, the blade locking system easier and it seems to have more strokes per minute than the Sawzall.

P-C probably makes the best belt sanders. Another excellent product I think only P-C makes is a dry cut metal cutting chop saw, not the abrasive blade type but with a carbide blade, clean, no burr, heat or dust cuts. P-C also makes an excellent sabre saw but it only does it's best with P-C blades which are hard to come by.

Milwaukee makes the best angle grinders, drills both corded and cordless, their Skiilsaw type saws are great but on the heavy side. Their wood cutting chop saws are Chinese junk. 2¢

Supersawzall???

Bill, are you comparing the Porter Cable to the Milwaukee standard sawzall, or the super sawzall? The Super has a longer stroke and rips IMO! I don't like the standard sawzall. It won't hold a candle to it's big brother. However, some of the guys in the trades buy them anyway. When working on structural walls you can't always use the "Super" without tearing through stuff you didn't intend to.

Drill type motors Milwaukee is unbeatable.

The P-C sawzall IMO was much smoother and easier to steady and control over the Milwaukee.

As mentioned by someone else the Bosch sawzall is suppose to be good.

I have the Bosch Jigsaw and it is great!!

My Milwaukee hammer drill came with a keyless chuck. Near useless until I replaced it with a keyed chuck. Now that I mention it, I don't like keyless chucks period. They might be quick but they don't hold. O' yeah the drill. Like my other three Milwaukee drills, it works.

Re: Bosch tools. I like the feel and quality of the ones I have. The cord placement on the 4x24 belt sander could use some changes. I tend to run over it.

If I have any problems with the chuck, it won't hurt my feelings to put a decent Jacobs on it. Most of my bit have a hex shank, and the chuck holds just fine even in really tough stuff.

'Course, it helps to have the Cobalt bits... hehehe.

Boss has two 1/2" Milwaukee drills. 1 Magnum and 1 cordless. Both work great. I use the cordless the most. The Magnum has to much torque for what I normally need a drill for (lots of self-tapping screws or small drill bits).

I have an old 3/8" Skil drill. Got it in a box of stuff at an auction that my dad and I went to when I was younger. Not much to look at but works well, no problems with it. Has JC Pennys name on it. Put a keyless chuck on it. Also has 2 other settings to use it as a hammer drill or with a chisel.

Milwaukee Hole Hog

Ever use one of those Milwaukee Hole Hogs? Plumbers use them for cutting 3" holes for vent stacks. You need a helmut and forearm protection when using one of those animals. I bet one of those motors could spin a Ferris wheel:D

I really like my 2 Magnum 1/2 inch drills but hate the 1/2' hammerdrill of theirs that I own, I tried to get the store I bought it from to take it back but they wouldn't, It is totally useless as a hammerdrill and near useless as a regular drill... . next time I need to drill concrete I will go buy the Bosch as I was recommended to in the first place, I have used a Bosch since and like it a lot, it actually will drill concrete without putting all my weight on top of it.....

That's Strange

I fried my Bosch hammer drill before going to the Milwaukee :) Cooked the Bosch sawzall too. Oh well:rolleyes:

You may need to step up to an SDS. Next thing to a jackhammer.

Your Right

SDS is pretty cool. If I needed to blow through concrete every day, you bet I'd go SDS. I just need to anchor stuff to the concrete, not structural IOW. I love my red 1/2" hammer drill. It was my first venture into the wild wild world of Milwaukee stuff. I feel the Milwaukee line is extensive and good quality. My luck has been excellent with the red tools. At 300 pounds of humanity, I can muscle and break stuff without trying:eek:

When I bought my milwaukee magnum a few years ago, the sales guy idly mentioned that I should make sure I "had a good hold on it" when I turned it on; I did not pay much attention.

Some time later I was enlarging a hole in my trailer hitch to 1"; the hitch was clamped in a bench vise and I was making good progress when that sucker bound up!

Before I knew what was happening, the hitch was torn out of vise and laying on the floor and the drill was a couple feet away on the work bench and I was standing there with my mouth open holding my wrist!!

Now I make sure I "have a good hold" on it when I turn it on.
