Happy Birthday, gitchesum!

I'm a small car admirer. I had a 79 Rabbit, lowered, sway bars, upper & lower sway bars, imported Euro GTI motor & clutch. I still like that size.

I test drove the Mini S. They really tuned them for the enthusiast, inside & out.

Wifie thinks they are ugly ... ok ... opinions are like ...

Nice ride for the hp & price.

Anybody got one?

They seem to hold their value.

I love the Mini, and would get one if i has the money ,and not so many other toys.

A member of the Mazda club I belong to just sold his twin turbo RX-7 and got a Cooper S model. He loves it. Says it is no where near the performance car of his RX-7 but requires less fiddling (like none) so far and is a very fun car to scoot around in.

Get one with the moon roof, you can put a refridgerator through the roof when they are open.

These cars are for enthusiasts that really like the car. This car has NO value whatsoever. The same thing is happening to the PT cruiser, the nuevo has worn off and now they're worth nothing. I see them roll through the auctions for 10k, no one whats them anymore.

That being said, my friend has one and I like it, it's a neat little thing. But if you want be ready to pay, and be ready to keep it. Their value certainly is not what it seems.

Prices are over sticker in many places, they aren't releasing many of them to the states, perhaps to keep prices up.

I disagree, the mini has been around in one form or another for decades. It actually has some performance qualities that the PT doesn't. Over priced, probably, but I bet it holds it's value better than the cruiser.

Ofcourse its been around, but it hasn't been "popular" in the states. As far as holding it's value, you should see the dealers here laugh at them. It's a local market thing, I'm sure things vary elsewhere. Same thing happened to the ford thunderbird, that new one is cool, but no one was buying around here, and the ones who did paid a pretty penny.

Back in 69 I did some auto cross racing and the Mini-Coopers ruled. With a little tweeking and the front wheel drive they would just blast around the course. I seen one beat a 66 AC Cobra by 1 second around the course.

If the course had some straight aways, the Cobra woud beat him hands down, I was running a built Super 90 Porsche in a 57 VW, and I was like 3 or 4 seconds behind him, I think I had enough power to hang with him, but you know how rear engin rigs like to get out of hand on tight curves with the hammer down.

My girlfriend is crazy about the Mini. Ever since she first saw one, she's wanted to own one. Of course, being poor college students, buying a new car is not exactly on the top of the priority list. :(

The full moonroof is a nice feature. It opens to a full 4 feet in length.

Check out Mini's On Top if you're in New England

I'm sure we'll be making a trip to Boston sometime in the near future to test drive on of these little bulldogs. I can't wait Oo.
