Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) valve adjustment

Just wondered if anyone knows what the minimum voltage requirement is for the fuel shutoff solenoid.

I got to thinking about this when my alternator quit and I was watching my voltmeter on the instrument panel drop to about 9-10 volts.

I am assuming that at some point the solenoid will not be able to hold the fuel shutoff valve open and the engine will quit.

At that point I would be wishing that I had a manual fuel shutoff.

Not sure on the voltage, but it isn't just a voltage measurement you want - you also want current measurement.

I think Bat would have to be near dead for it to not work.

I ran for a week a few hrs a day with a dead alternator a few months back and selenoid held open no problem.

Shop said Bat was still not too bad as they die somewhere near 11. 5v.

TGhe draw is high on startup and probably low in the hold open position.
