On a more serious note, the real DOT seems to be doing a lot of fundraising in Stillwater. I think they are trying to catch people skipping out on the I 94 weigh station south of town, but it is getting rediculous. One or two days a week, downtown stillwater is full of stopped trucks and troopers. I have lived here all my life, and in the last 3 weeks had my tank dipped twice and had to explain several times that I am not for hire, I just happen to drive a 1-ton. I know they have a job to do, but it is getting really annoying, and I feel a little bit geographically picked on. Sorry, rant off.

The local news had a piece last week on NYS Troopers doing actual inspections in their normal weight check locations. They actually had mobile mechanic companies on site to "correct" any and all infractions before allowing the truck to continue on its way.



The news story showed a mechanic replacing a tire. Wow, I can't imagine what those charges were.

Down here in Texas(in deep south Texas)there are a lot of those big rigs coming north that NEED to be taken off the road.
