My 02 truck doesn't have the power mirrors, so this probably isnt the same with your truck. But on mine, the heat button is on the segment in the dash that has the heater controls. Bottom left hand corner. I dont use it very often so that last time I needed it, I really had to look (forgot where it was)

Yea I guess mine is a 01 style but I can't find anybody that knows how the heat works I looked for a button and I don't have one a guy told me that they are automatic but I'm not sure anybody got a clue thanks

Mirror button

The heated mirror button on my 02 is just below and to the left of the heat control knob - a couple inches to the right of the key. It is a small rectangular button about 3/4 by 1/2" (or smaller- it is easy to miss it) that says "mirror" on it with wavy heat lines next to it on the dash. The heat lines light up when the button is pressed.

Here is a picture of it. According to the FSM there is a timer built into the switch. You posh the button and they come on. Push again and they go off. They will turn off by themselves after something like 10 or 15 minutes, I have not timed it. My truck came with heated power mirrors but it did not have the switch. It must have been replaced with the wrong part before I bought the truck. Both heater switches have the plug on the back but the non heated one has no contacts so it was just holding the plug in place. Installed the right switch and they worked.

The heating element is bonded to the glass -- like a rear window defogger -- so you have to pop the mirror and check for continuity and check that there's 12V to the element. The mirror and plastic back is held on by a 4" ring of plastic clips.
