Mirror Lack of Movement

The driver's side mirror just recently will not move in or out. It will move up and down and the passenger side moves both up / down and in / out. Any hints or suggestions as to where to start looking for the problem? Truck is a '98.5 with about 200,000 miles.

I think it would be very limited as to what is wrong - a switch problem, a mirror motor problem, or wiring inside the door problem. Likely the mirror or the switch.

When you do the "in and out " function, can you hear the motor working? If you can, then you probably have a mechanical issue in the mirror housing.

Try moving the mirror up and down a few times with your hand, sometimes that will free it up. Also I believe if you push the mirror all the way down you can squirt some spray lube under the rubber boot"?" bg

Mine did that and I moved by hand and there was a dirt dobber nest muddled up behind it, power washed it and works great now
