Mirror Upgrade

Looking at a 2002 that came with the small electric mirrors, but someone replaced them with the flip up towing mirrors like I have on my 2007 YM truck. Remote control doesn’t adjust the mirrors. Is it possible to wire the new mirrors in such a manner that the original control will work?

Maybe they got a good buy on them and they are manually adjusted.

The OEM factory tow mirrors were manual adjustment, not electric. Aftermarket companies like KoolVue have a power adjustment series. The driver's mirror has slight clearance issues with the power adjustment switch causing the door panel to bulge out slightly. IIRC one of the mounting studs has to be trimmed slightly, too.

Anything is possible with enough planning, effort and money. Despite our requests, headquarters ordered our 3rd Gen 2004 3500 with manual, regular mirrors. They were barely adequate to see over the rear dually fenders, let alone to use for towing. So I ordered the Cipa electric mirrors to fit the 2004. Then using the wiring diagrams for both the 1996 and 2004 models, I adapted a 1996 adjusting knob control to operate the 2004 mirrors. It took an entirely new circuit, but that was just running wires.
