So i've had my truck for three months now...I just realized the mirrors rotate up for tow..I saw other trucks like this running around, but thought it was a different mirror option. lol

LOL. I ran into a guy at a rest stop w a brand new truck just like mine, but a dually, with a long range tank and a big fifth wheel. Didn't look like his first time towing if ya know what I mean. He had those little strap-on extender-mirrors. I asked him if he liked them better than the stock ones (hey maybe he knows something I don't right?). He said "Naw. I wish I ordered the big mirrors like you have". I pulled of his mirror extender and flipped up his mirror.

He laughed and asked if I knew anyone who wanted to buy a pair of mirror extenders for a late model Dodge...

If it was me, I'm not sure I would have told anybody.......:) the only way to make this funnier if it had been your wife who pointed this out to you......:-laf

If you have the memory option (seat, radio, mirrors) it will save a different setting for both up and down. I always read my owners manual when I get a naw car, always learn something.

For well over 4 million miles in over 40 years, I have had the spot (convex) mirror below the main mirror..NOT outside of it.. and my brain would not change!!! As a result mine are up in tow mode ALL the time!!! It also helps with the flat bed body on a C&C!!

I have a mechanic that I sent to replace a mirror on a second gen. Came back and told me I bought the wrong mirror, but put it on anyway. Told him to take it off, put the broken one back on and I'll deal with Dodge for sending the wrong part (figured they sent the standard mirror). I open the box and it's a towing mirror like it's supposed to be.

Sent him back out to put it back on, it's the right mirror, he starts arguing with me right up to the point where I flip it up into tow mode.

I seriously need to replace this guy.

That's the difference between a "technician"(translation=parts changer), and a "mechanic"(translation=someone who actually fixes stuff). I've done some dumb stuff over the years, but some people will just never get it.

Neighbor of mine bought a MC, hooked to his trailer ready to go on first trip out. I Noticed that the mirrors are not tipped out. went over and asked him if he was going to fold out the mirrors. WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT?? Walk over to the truck and showed him WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, flipped up the tow position. He felt like a penny waiting for change.

Yeah, The salesman didn't know much about the vehicle, either. I thought i was getting power closing too. Bummer. I have to get out and close the right mirror every time i pull in the garage. then back again. PITA. I watched every video on the DVD owners manual. Couldn't ever find mirrors. I least I didn't buy the strap on mirrors..lol

I have no shame. Just posted to help others that might not know.

I never have had my tow mirrors down on my Dually trucks. Seldom go anywhere without a trailer behind. Some seem to have a issue with the mirrors up, I dont care.

Lol, I didn't realize I had the tow mirrors either until I read the manual and looked at the build sheet. Does the extra hours and torque also come with the g56?

Having the tow mirrors up give you an extra 50hp and 125ft torque....:-laf

Is there any proof to the Cummins getting more hp & torque with the tow mirrors up?

Is it with all 3 trannys?

Or only with the Aisin?

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but you would expect that to happen when the truck detects trailer electricals, not just when the mirrors are up
