i work with a 82 year old man that just bought his first dodge who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks. he bought a 04 crew cab short box with the mighty cummins. the problem is that he has the flip out tow mirrors and a tight garage to park in and has ahard time getting in there. he wants to know if he can change to a smaller mirror perhaps one off the 1500. he said he only has a couple of inches on each side when pulling in. he is a retired truck driver and has more miles in reverse then most of us total so i know he can drive. does anyone have any ideas what we can do for him i offerd to widen the garage door but he said he would sell truck first. thanks for any info and by the way he wont be doing any towing

i will check with himon the swap tomorrow at work. are they also electric and heated, and could you give me a measurment from the door to outside edge of mirror thanks

They are about 3" narrower in width than the tow mirrors so the truck would be about 6" narrower. They are also heated power mirrors

This might be a silly question to ask, is he folding the drivers side mirror flat against the truck when he pulls in the garage? That's how I do it with mine and just crowd the drivers side of the door. Leave the passenger side out.

Not sure, but I doubt that there is much difference between the non-towing and the towing mirrors folded in. Of course an inch can make a big difference.
