just got a set of black mirrors from a 99 ctd, going to replace my chrome ones on my 96 ctd. i know they will bolt on, but the wiring plug is different, plus the new one's are heated. anyone know the wiring on these ?

thanks, scot

There's a switch in my dash to turn them on. You may have to get to a junk yard and get the harness (or at least the switch and timer relay) from a 99 to make the heat work. Other than that if you don't want the heat you should be able to look at diagrams for 99 and 96 to figure which wires are needed to power the adjusting motor(s).

I got this off the forums somewhere, I can't remember who posted it but it was simple when I did mine.

The wiring on the 96 is the color at the plug on the truck side, not the

mirror side, of the connector. The colors for the wires on the 01 are on

the mirror side of the connector.

Drivers Side:

1996 to 2001

Dark Blue/White to Yellow

Yellow to White/Black

Yellow/Pink to Light Blue (Note: There are two light blue wires from the same port on the plug. I connected both of them)

NA - Black (This is for the heated function of the mirror)

Passenger Side:

1996 to 2001

Dark Blue to Yellow

Yellow/Black to White

White to Light Blue (Note: There are two light blue wires from the same port on the plug. I connected both of them)

NA - Black (This is for the heated function of the mirror)

I'll be honest with you though, I like the looks of the newer style but I miss the convex passenger side mirror and these new mirrors seem to vibrate more. I haven't hooked up the heated part yet either.
