What rear springs do I have ?

Does the Prodigy adaptor cable plug right in???

I recently purchased a 32 foot gooseneck enclosed car hauler. Unfortunately, on the way home from purchasing the trailer I found out that the chrome factory "flag" mirrors on my truck don't cut it! I have searched several threads on mirrors in this forum but it's still difficult to decide. So I thought I would pose a few questions of my own.

1. If I so choose, can I use my factory mirror adjustment toggle switch with most of the aftermarket mirrors? (I don't have heat)

2. just how far do I need the mirrors to extend?

3. how is the mirror shake on these aftermarket ones? This is a pet peeve of mine. My factory driver's mirror vibrates and it bothers me. some shake is expected with the extended mirrors, but I don't understand the factory mirrors shaking. especially since my passenger side mirror is rock steady.

4. Do any of the aftermarket ones even come close to looking like they belong on the truck? I know this is a matter of opinion.

5. I live in the Southwest and am worried about the sun oxidizing the plastic on these things. anyone have any trouble with this? would hate to plunk down $400 for mirrors, only to have them look ratty after two seasons.

I would appreciate any comments. I need to order these things in shortly.

You can get the 2nd gen flip-out towing mirrros. They do not have power, but work really well. The plastic has not been a problem in Colorado or Arizona.

You might want to check out the Meckesh (sp) strap on from Camping World. They always worked well for me towing my fiver.

I have a set of the MCkesh strap on mirrors I used until I bought my Cipa's. Worked great and had less vibration with them than I do with the Cipa's!

I'll sell them cheap... PM me if your interested

I use the PowerVision mirrors. Replaced heated remote controlled stock with heated remote controlled PV that extend and retract with a single inside switch. IMHO they look great and have performed flawlessly. Vitrually no vibration.

I first started with slip on mirror extensions. I could not adjust the right side mirrors so I could see the side of my trailer as well as behind the trailer. I bought McKesh mirrors and love them. I adjust them so I can see the sides of the trailer on both sides and with extending my neck my tires. I bought the optional oversize round mirrors which are of particular use whn making a turn to watch out for my 5er tires turning too far inside of truck. I have managed to miss a few curbs in this way by adjusting my steering.

If you have the metal, bodied mirrors I've seen people put a longer elbow from the door to the mirror. Don't know where they got them, but I have seen a number of them around. What I did with my 1 Gen. truck was buy large, convex, stainless steel bodied mirrors from a truck supply store. I bought a 6" extension with a clamp and mounted it onto the round elbow that connects the mirror to the door. I placed the convex mirror below the stock mirror. I used a 7" mirror on the drivers side and an 8" mirror on the passengers side. I bought a telescoping extension for the passengers side and mounted the mirror above and a little outside of the stock mirror. These mirrors work extremely well! I have an '03 Dodge, also, with the standard mirrors and I have not been able to come up with a good way to connect large convex mirrors to these. Don't like the stick-on type. If any of you have any good ideas, please let me know. Hope i've been a little helpful here. Joe.
