Competition Who's coming out to the DHRA hook in Gaston tomorrow?

Off Roading Hummer 4bt Tug o war

So, I missed 5th gear on run while running that CTS-V (see other thread in this forum). The Edge box tells me I hit 3640rpm.

Stock motor internals! how bad is this to do every now and then?

no misses, not weird sounds on the motor of tail pipe. runs normal. . cooled this down longer then normal when I make a few WOT runs.

I scrambled to get the truck in 5th as soon as I realized what the heck isn't "right" maybe 2 seconds at that RPM.

Well the first few times I dyno'd pushed it to over 3500 with just moderate performance box. I was new to diesels and finally figured out after looking at the charts that I was maxed at 3000 rpms and the additional rpms lost power and generated heat.

Now currently with the Smarty and current mods it fuels hard all the way to 3300-3400rpms and makes a difference.

Sorry Jason, were going to have fun with you on this one!

I had my old stock motor to 3750... ..... in O/D

It's a some what lagit question tho. I hear people smashing valves at just a bit over 3500 doing pulls. I suppose that's 3500 + 70 psi would introduce valve float but hey.

I did do my yearly spring valve lash check last night. still dead nutz on . 10 and . 20. Tho I did burn up another quart of oil in the last 2000 miles. I think it's time to get that turbo swapped out, hoping that's what eating oil. First things first, get the front end ball and u joints replaced.

I dynoed mine with a certain program a while back. . The dyno operator was in the truck and revved it to over 3900. . If I ever get my scanner hooked up, I'd like to post the hp at given rpm's. . It made power very late in the rpm band, with very little drop from the peak hp (45). .
