Can someone help me find out what DTC P0401 and P1291 mean in my 1998-12V. 3/4T, 4x4? Can't find them in the service manual or the manual that came with my reader.

P0401 reads "Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected" and p1291 is "No temp rise seen from intake heaters" .

I had the first due to blocked off EGR almost daily until I was taught a fix from a savvy member. The second may be as simple as a loose connector.

bmoeller & danavilla : Thanks for the reply. The link that you referenced--http://turbodieselregister.com/foru... searchid=596114 doesn't lead me anywhere?

Thanks again,

Jim

Hmm, OK. Didn't work for me again either.

Go click on the "search" button here on the site. Type in "P1291", without the parenthesis. Then do the same for the PO401. There are several threads on both.

What was the fix on the PO401 DTC? I would sure appreciate some suggestions. Thank you,

I'll pull together my notes and send them to you. I just now reviewed the older thread.
