Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) missing kdp

I was doing my tst kdp repair and when i got the gear case cover off the pin was gone. I cant see any damage, and cant find the pin. Is there any baffles in the oil pan that would stop it from falling to the bottom of the oil pan? Or is there someplace else i should be looking ?

It's in the pan. It will probably roll around in there forever and not hurt a thing.

If it is not in the gears it is the pan. Don't worry about it but put a new one in (from Cummins) and make sure the gear case bolts are tight.

I shouldnt try to get it out of the pan? Does any one know a part # for the pin?

The Cummins part number I have for the pin is 3900257.

Go buy a lottery ticket! You might be able to fish it out with a magnet on a stick but it will be OK rolling aorund in there. Next oil change you could try to drag it to the drain hole with a strong magnet on the outside of the pan.

Rare earth magnet... Drag it across the pan maybe? Just a thought.

just got my new dowel pin, one end is has a tapper to it. Does it matter which end goes in first?

The taper is to the front,the new gear cover is a bit different than the originals.
