I got a buddy with a 95 with a issue. Can ya folk help. This is what he sent.

Hey guys, I've got this 95 12 valve. Once in a while on random occurances after I've driven some where on a short trip and get back in it to go home it acts like it's only running on 3-4 cylinders. It will start up ok until I get moving. Then it acts up and runs real rough. There is a poping noise coming from the pump. Then I'll pull over, shut erverything down. Let it sit for about a minute or two and then it will run fine. It did this several times last year when the weather was warmer. Usually it does it when I go to Eastern Washington in the summer with my camper on.

It'll run real rough and make all kinds of noise. Then I shut it off for a few minutes and it'll run fine.

Any suggestion?

Thanks all:{ :{ :{

I've had the exact same problem since my '95 was new, countless trips to the dealer and no help from TDR. Almost every component of the fuel system has been replaced under warranty including the injection pump. After much experimenting I've found it only does it with less than half a tank and three hours plus of continuous highway. This has lead me to believe it has something to do with the spring in the overflow valve losing tension due to hot fuel. It's not something I like experimenting with, all too many times it has died with no place to pull over. My solution is to avoid it by stopping every three hours, it only takes 10 minutes or keep the tank over half full. Works for me, hasn't done it for a couple of years but I bet I can make it do it. If you ever figure it out I'd like to know. There have been a few others here with same problem.

Every component? Did they (dealer) replace your fuel tank module? Same thing happened to me ... replaced the tank module ... further inspection found a cracked line in the module . . allowing air in ... less than a half a tank . . not really a "miss" just air ...

Yep, tank module, fuel heater, lift pump, injection pump, hoses and numerous filters replaced under warranty on my 2500.

My 3500 had the hole in the pickup tube problem, but no others.

I would try a new overflow valve and temporarly install a fuel pressure guage and watch the fuel pressure to see if it drops down when acts up, if it does then it's gotta be sucking air in the pickup tube in the fuel tank.

Now the truch comes out!!

Then what the he!! was all that BS with that thread you started a week ago?!

Gee illflem, with all those problems, you'd think you were driving an overvalved unit with all their 'electronic problems', eh??

One other thing, if I had to pull over every three hours while I was on a road trip to either let the engine cool or fill up the fuel tank I WOULD BE LIVID!!!! In fact, if the problem couldn't be rectified in very short order I'd sell the POS and buy something else!
