23rd Annual May Madness, 2017

First Annual May Serenity 2020: 27th April - 2nd May

I am posting to confirm there is going to be a Silver Anniversary May Madness in 2019. We are working on details at present and will follow-up once pricing is formalized. You CAN mark your calendar for 29th April through 5th May. This event will, hopefully, be able to be special in that it marks the 25th anniversary May Madness, the 30th anniversary of Cummins Diesel availability in Dodge pickups, and the 100th anniversary of Cummins Engine company.

Good job Walt. Now lets get the information and registration paperwork posted on here so folks will know what's happening really early this year.

There are good news items and some (perhaps) not-so-good items to report quickly, Not-so-good item is the Preferred RV Park has raised its "best possible rate" to $25.00 per night. This is a significant increase, obviously. There are some renovations being carried out in the Clubhouse in particular. I need to talk with management to determine whether any trade-offs can be reached. So far, and this has bearing on the event-registration, the Clubhouse rental will not increase. I am planning to update the tshirt art to reflect the Silver Anniversary milestone that MM2019 will mark.

The good news item is there WILL be a MM2019/Silver Anniversary edition. We intend to have a collectable/commemorative goodie-bag inclusion. That item is still under design as is the new tshirt art. We are keeping the Saturday Banquet, we are keeping the Pot Luck, we are keeping Dyno Day (with a twist to be revealed later).

I will keep you updated as things progress.

Since the National Event in Columbus, IN so closely follows May Madness, is there anyone interested to trying to form-up a caravan from Nevada to Indiana?

We have a limited-space opportunity. The evening of 1 May 2019 (dyno-day-eve) I have arranged a special event with a maximum capacity of only six participants. It is a traditional Japanese Kaiseki dinner at Naked Fish's in Las Vegas. I have room for three more. Be aware, this is not an inexpensive experience. Plan on the realm of $150 to $200 per guest. I have dined here frequently and can vouch for the quality of the food, service, and overall experience.

May Madness 2019 will incorporate a "Vegas Day" the evening of 1 May through the morning of 2 May 2019. Dyno Day will, as in the past, occur on Thursday of May Madness Week, which happens to be the 2 of May. I will post my critiques of various attractions in the Vegas area that will include options other than gambling.

Diane and I are planning to go to Columbus this year. Have not worked out the details, but we are figuring about a week to get there, then a stop in NC to see Sean, Nina and the baby, then a leisurly trip home. I need to block my calendar so I have the time free. We should make May Madness, especially since I'm now in the diesel club! I'm teaching T/TH again this semester so more than likely we will head out Wednesday morning so I don't have to miss two days of class. That mostly depends on if I have to miss any days of class prior to MM.

Dawn and I will be coming down on Monday, April 29th and leave on Sunday, May 5th. I got reservations for us in one of the accommodations at the RV Park
