Am I the only one having trouble locating ULSD?

I'm sure all of those with a few months drive time with the 6. 7 know when it's in regen mode - right? I can certainly hear the difference. But I'm curious, anbody else notice hom much more power the truck has while in regen mode? For my truck (no mods) when in regen mode it runs like a different animal - i mean realllllllly stout . I suppose this is from slightly "overfueling" the engine? Anyway I'm curius to see whatchya all think?! Nothin bad to say here so far (4000 miles 3 months) for the 6. 7 or emmissions system. Squeaky clean. Oo. It's gotten to the point that I really look forward to regens! :) Now there's a statement you thought you'd never read!! :)

Intake air temp that normally runs 150 to 200 degrees drops down to 10-20 degrees over ambient during Regen because the EGR is turned off. I'm sure you're picking up some noticeable power there, especially if it's really cold where you are like it is here in Montana.

Extra fuel is added at a different time than the power stroke, so I doubt that is affecting it.

Ah! Good point - Wow, the new emmission stuff really takes its toll in more ways than one #@$%!. The power difference is startling, like you stated even more so when cold!

yalls regen works different from the one on my 6. 7(thats when the dpf was there) my egt's would climb to 1400 and as soon as it hit 1400 the EGR kicked in to bring the temp down to 1100 to 1200. it would keep doing that until regen was over. but that would only happen on the last half of regen. It may be hard to believe this but the EGR is there to help cool the EGT's from the regen. you replace the oxygen with exhaust, no oxygen present, you burn less fuel, less fuel burned, the less heat you have.

I reprogrammed the egr in my TDI so the duty cycle is lessened and that little engine liked it. I could have turned it off but chose to set it for the minimum that falls within specs so I'm still emission compliant. I predict the programmers will offer something similar for the 6. 7.
