Ok so it's my mistake, I was out of town and told my wife to take the truck and get the oil changed. I told her to ask what kind of synthetics they had and call me but, she took it in and had them put in mobil1. (I guess i wasn't clear on what i wanted her to do) wich we run in her jetta. iknow that it doesn't have the soot control and yadda, yadda, yadda. my question is will it be ok for 5,000 until i get it changed?:confused:

If the oil change place put in a non diesel rated oil of any kind they should remedy that ASAPOo. They are suppose to know what they are doing your wife is suppose to be able to trust them. I would go so far as small claims just to straighten them out:-{}

it's not "non diesel" it's 15w50. I freaked out about that to and went down there. I talked to the manager and he showed me what they put in i checked on the mobil 1 website and it is rated for light duty diesels. i'm not all that concerned but it still bugs me that it happened. he was cool and offered me a discount for next time. it stinks because the guy i usally deal with wasn't there when my wife went in IE: the mixup. when i went in today he was sorry and assured me it would not happen again.

Drain it immediately. Mobile Delvac 1 is a full synthetic and rated for diesels. There are a lot of choices but run oil that is rated for the diesel. This will probably start a war.

Mobil 1 does not carry the proper diesel rating for our Cummins. Personally I would drain it and run the proper oil in the truck. If you leave it in I certainly would not run it 5k miles. JMHO

I doubt it would do any harm for a short time, but I would get diesel-rated oil in there at your earliest convenience.

Mobil Delvac 1

As Diselnutz said Mobil does make a great oil that will work both in light duty and heavy duty applications..... MOBIL 1 DELVAC see if they will replace it with this oil?:{

I am going to leave it for 3,000 in stead of the usual 5k. i talked to a friend who has run it in his cummins for over 150,000 with no probs, and he said if it's good enough for an original 67 race hemi it's good enough for his cummins. I have since convinced him otherwise:rolleyes:(soot control, yadda, yadda, yadda) he is going to run amsoil after his new truck is broken in(He must have done some research):-{} thanks for the replys.
