Just a friendly warning to my TDR brethren and ... (sistren??)
I greased the front end of my 99 4x4 with Mobil-1 grease this week. This grease (or the carrier) had a chemical reaction to the Mopar stuff that was in there and CAUSED IT TO LIQUIFY.
That's right, ALL the grease turned to liquid (about the consistancy of ATF) and ran out, dripping all over my driveway and leaving the tierods dry.
I'm sure Mobil-1 is a good grease, just don't combine it with the OEM stuff unless you're willing to keep greasing every day for a few days to completely clean out the old stuff.
This can probably happen with other brand-combinations of grease too. It wouldn't hurt to double-check those grease fittings a day or so after you re-grease to see if it's running out thinner than it went in.
Sure glad I noticed it when I did!!!!!!
