"Ok" I use Mobil 1 in every one of my gas trucks the question is should I change from Delco 400 oil that I have been useing ever since I picked up my Dodge 2004. 5 3500 truck with 72,000 miles to Mobil 1 for diesels. Anyone out there use it?

Mobil's diesel oil is Delvac 1, true full synthetic like top-shelf stuff. It's a great oil IMO, I ran it once in my 2001 and got good oil analysis numbers.

The $64,000 question, to switch or not to switch. I just switched to Mobil1 TDF 5W-40 CI-4+ at 25,00 miles. I used Mobil1 in my gassers for many years, but I had no particular preference this time. It was on the shelf at Wally World. I drive the same 320-340 mile round trip, with similar local trips, each week. I even fuel up at the same place. The trip is about 75% @ 70mph, and 25% local and rush hour. I'm easy on the pedal as a matter of course. Same travel times and weather so I feel confident about the consistency. MPG on Delo400: Avg 17. 8. MPG on Mobil1: avg 18. 5. There is plenty of anecdotal and technical support for increased MPG with synthetics. I ran similar tests on my gassers and observed increased fuel economy. I'll also add that I feel confident about running this out to 15,000 miles, though I'll probably change it at 10,000. If I drive 15,000-20,000 miles per year I feel that the synthetic pays for itself. That said, at some point I will scale back my driving and will switch back to dino oil. This is because the requirement for the oil change will be driven by the time the oil is in the crankcase and not by miles driven. Makes no sense to throw money down the drain. Regarding brand preference, there are other brands that are probably close to or as good as Mobil1. I'll probably give the Valvoline Premium Blue a shot on my next change.
