Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 = CAT 5W-40?

Anyone know if Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 = CAT 5W-40?

All the local dist. around here want close to $25. 00 for Delvac 1. A friend of mine who runs OTR told me the CAT oil products were Mobil put in a CAT package. I can get the CAT oil for less than $22. 00 per gallon, plus it is much closer to my place than the nearest Mobil dist.

Does anybody have more info on this? I have never heard CAT and Mobil oil were the same.

I just took a book over for my dad to read with CAT stuff... kind of a monthly news letter. It had an article about CAT oil in it. I will give it a looksy and see what it has to say. I skimmed over it a few weeks ago and dont recall it saying anything about it being anyone elses brand. In fact they were talking it up because of how the formulated it. More or less I think its CAT's own secret recipe, but someone else is doing the cooking. I will find out for you.

Cat oil is a branded Mobil product produced to Cat's specs. It is a good product although not the same as what you buy from Mobil. As long as the API class is what your engine calls for, it is ok to use.
