Mobil Delvac 15W-40

I dont want to start a religious debate here, about brand preferences and opinions... however. i do want to know what yall think about Mobil Delvac and if any of yall have used it. the only thing ive ever run in my truck since ive had it is Rotella T 15W40. but the Delvac bottle showed the different engines that is meets the requirements for, and it showed cummins, cat, detroit, pretty much all big motors. so what do yall think??? should i start using Delvac or stick to Rotella. and dare i ask if there are any other brands i should consider????:-laf:-{}

mobil delvac and fleetguard stratapore filter user here. happy with it so far. i actually started using delvac after a friend that has a few straight dump trucks for his business pointed me in that direction after his owns oil tests came back better than rotella. i use to use rotella tho, and all our diesels on the farm have used rotella for years so i trust both of those 2.

I've used a lot of Delvac--25 years !

Then I found Schaeffers, which is far better, mileage is up and it costs less.

The past issues of TDR mag have pretty detailed articles on the Oil topic.



I'm not a technical person but with a few slow reads through the articles I felt like even I could make a good choice on the oil deal.

I know the same info can lead folks to different choices, but there sure is a ton fo info there.

I've never been fond of rotella (I have used it a few times), but not necessarily because it who makes what, but, more of I am a big synthetic oil fan. There are three brands I am fond of, but, the one I use and like the most is Amsoil. It sells both CI and CJ diesel oils and I don't have to go shopping around from place to place trying to find synthetic axle/auto and manual transmission/motor oil. By the way, the other two brands are Royal Purple and Mobil 1.

Fellas, I've recently started using Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40 diesel oil. It is endorsed by Cummins, and it's on nearly every local auto parts store shelf for about $12 a gallon.

I'll be upgrading to Valvoline fully synthetic next go-round.

wow, i really like the sounds of that Valvoline, that site really looked good. im thinking that will be my next choice after i run 5,000 miles. . i just filled with rotella not more than a few hours ago, before reading this post. sounds like that will be the next go round thought for sure. thanks guys!

Im not really familliar with delvac but it is in the top 3 rated

heavy duty engine oils for deisel engines .



I run either valvoline Premium Blue or tried and tested



Chevron Delo 400 I run delo in every thing gas or deisel with out any trouble



ive even ran it in some race engines , it carries 5 to 10 lbs more psi



than other oils , in my full race engines i run valvoline raceing oil 20-50

or 50W



But ive ran Delo for 20 pls years in my deisel stuff in farming and trucking applications

me and my brother-in-law and his dad use amsoil synthetic 15w-40, i was considering using the valvoline my dad uses the valvoline in out steiger which 855 cummins powered so it should be good enough for the cummins:-laf but the amsoil has carried his dads truck to 275,000 no prblems and mine to 316,000 cant be bad

First of all it is unlikely we will have a failure related to brand of oil used.



That said I have read in several places that is is a bad thing to keep changing oil brands as they all have different additives and they don't necessarily all mix well. Pick one and stick with it. Make a change if you want to but don't change brands with every oil change.



BTW I use Rotella 15-40 in my truck and boat diesels. I used Valvoline Prem Blue when I had the new 6BTA in my ex boat, but only because it was new and the manual "highly recommended" it and I was concerned about warantee. Prem Blue was very hard for me to get around the CT area... . Never in stock anywhere... I always had to order it from a NAPA store. NAPA also carries what they call the Premium Blue in a NAPA bottle, but I talked to Valvoline and it's not always up to Prem Blue standard... . sometimes it's the rejected lots.

I've stuck with Premium Blue 15w-40 since I bought the truck. It's available locally (Advance Auto) and not too expensive. I see no reason to change.

I've been on Premium Blue since I bought my truck. $12-14 a gallon, don't expect to find it at walmart or a gas station though. So far all NAPAs, Advances and AutoZones have at least a couple of bottles, not always as much as the other stuff, but 15w40 already isn't the most common oil anyway.
