2020 Rotella Farm Rebates

This has been posted before but thought I'd throw it out there again as a reminder. Mobil Delvac is running a rebate program through the end of the year (12-31-19).
Of course you have to purchase from an approved vendor which they have listed here.

I've been watching the local stores for sales but have missed two of them and am coming up on my annual oil change so I started looking online. I found Speedway Motors offering a good price on the Delvac Extreme 15w40. I bought 6 gallons but when I completed the rebate they only let me apply for 5 gallons, which puts me at about $11.50 per gallon after rebate. Not too shabby.

Remember this is for the Extreme (synthetic blend), generally I run the 1300 conventional but the 1300 was only about $2 per gallon less than the Extreme at Speedway Motors so I figured why not.

What engine is in your 650? 5.9 Cummins?

There hasn't been a diesel rated 10w40 that I'm aware of in a long time. You need to use an oil with the CK4 spec. "C" stands for compression ignition, the K is the version the 4 is for 4 stroke engines. Your run of the mill gas engine oil with the API symbol "S" is for spark ignition engines. Diesel rated oil has the required additives to neutralize the acids in the oil from combustion byproducts and fuel and has higher phosphorus and other anti wear compounds necessary for a hard working flat tappet engine.

Bottom line, you do not want to run a gasoline rated oil in a diesel engine.

Rebates are back through November 30.

The trick is purchasing from one of their approved vendors when they are holding a sale. I've found Speedway Motors has consistently good prices but they can definitely be beat.

If you were to buy a 4 pack from Speedway right now they are selling the 1300 for $15/gallon and the Delvac Extreme for $17.50/gallon. Factor in the rebates drops out of pocket down to $10/gallon for the 1300 and $9.50/gallon for the Delvac Extreme. I generally best those prices by a couple of bucks per gallon. Hard to beat!

Unfortunately the rebate is only good for 2 gallons of the Extreme. The Delvac is limited to 2 singles, one 2.5 gallon jug or a 5 gallon bucket. Usually the rebates are good for 5 gallons no matter how you slice it....but I have also seen them extend this so it may change again.
