Would the modded cp3 pumps be any less prone to leaking than the stock cp3? Mine is getting progressively worse :( and I don't want to go through this again if I don't have to. I am not looking to make any high horse power, so, I am assuming I really do not need modded unless it has better seals, or whatever is leaking. With 178,000 miles on it, it is my own expense for sure. :{

Also, I was wondering if a cp3 from a 2005 is the same as the 2004, As I found a 2005 complete eng for sale.

A modified cp3 or a stock cp3 should not leak if built correctly. If you plan on replacing your cp3 b/c it is leaking and you wish to use more chip or more injector size, then I would op out for a modified cp3. If not, then I would have the stock cp3 rebuilt or repaired. That is only my . 02 cents worth.

From what I have been reading on TDR, I thought that they were not rebuildable. But if they can be rebuilt at a reasonable cost, that is the way I would like to go. I would like to step up to a slightly larger set of injectors( and honed & extruded)but my thoughts are that one step up from factory should not require a modded cp3. Am I correct on this assumption? Also where does one get the cp3 rebuilt? And can it be done in a short period of time? Thanx :)

There was a guy on DTR or Cumminsforum that rebuilt a CP3. He showed pictures step-by-step and the rebuild wasn't onerous at all. You can buy rebuild kits from www.Dipaco.com

The guy' forum name was Rich2500 or something like that.
