video download program???

I was over at the "Old" Sportsman Wareouse" and they have one of these at a great price - Under $700..... It looks neat BUT I noticed that it's action looks small. I put it alongside the CZ 375, which has a Model 98 Mag Action, and it is indeed at leats 1/2" longer... ... .

Now 2 questions... ... surely Rem wouldn't make it with an action limited would they... I mean it looks like ejecting unshot cartridges would have to be done carefully?

OK - I have always wanted to have a 375 H&H..... I really need it like a hole in the head... but the cartridge has facisnated me for many years... . and it does look like it is about the "Best Overall" cartridge available today..... now I know that is worse than an oil topic..... but what are your thoughts on the 375... and no I'm not going to Africa... . and specifically this model????

An 8 lb 375 will be real UNenjoyable to shoot!! A friend had a custom built 12 lb that wasnt too bad, but 3or4 shots was all you wanted..... maybe with a muzzle break it would be alright.

the action is a good one, no problem with ejection. i have used several of them as a platform for other wild cat conversions. while they were still 375 i did shoot them a lot. if you get a 30" heaver barrel and reload with modern powder and bullets it will suprize you what it can do. i would keep the stock and barrel to change it back to original if you ever want to sell. with the factory barrel it looses way to much velocity and it will pound you to death

My problem with the Model 700 in . 375 H&H is that it is a push feed action.

Usually, when you're shooting a . 375 H&H, you're shooting at something with either huge teeth, huge horns, huge feet, lots of mass, or any combination of the above.

Basically, dangerous game.

Hunting dangerous game with a push feed action is, well..... I don't wanna do it. Not to mention the other advantages to having a CRF action in general.

I love my . 375 H&H chambered rifles... have three of them. All CRF with full length Mauser style claw extractors.

I've shot everything from coyotes to brown bears with them... . the caliber truly is a do-all, my all time favorite, and my choice for "if I could only have one rifle... . "

*oh, and yes, the XCR is running . 375 H&H out of a standard long action... so if you short throw the bolt just a lil bit you'll have issues.

I think your happiness with the . 375 in general will depend on how well you can deal with recoil. My Ruger M77 is a heavier rifle than the Remington XCR, but only by about a pound. When I was working up loads I would shoot 20 -25 rounds before I started to get fatigued to the point where accuracy suffered. Personally I think it's less punishing than my brother's Kimber . 300 WSM or my father in law's . 300 win mag.

The reason I got mine is because moose hunting up here tends to be in brown bear country, but it's also a caliber that has the range to take a caribou at longer distances.
