Exhaust Brakes vs. Trailer Brakes

RV Converter/Charger PD9160 W/Charge Wizard

Earlier I posted a question on modified trans and towing weights.

I forgot to ask how many are using exhaust brakes and what kind, and how are they working out??

I hope several answers this as it is something I need to add to my truck

That's the next best thing you can add to your set up. Once you have you'll wonder how you did so long without it. I have the BD turbo mount and love it, use it every day and even better when towing. I can slow down 19k GCVW almost to a stop without using my brakesOo.

I have not been using my e-brake that long, but it is nice to have. I run a PAC-BRAKE, and I am pleased with it's performance. I don't have experiance with any other brands to compare though. I did go with the 60# springs, and if you do not get a controler to manage the torque converter and exhaust brake, you will not be getting the most out of your set-up.

Robon, if you want to do it right you should add the smart controller and billet input shaft

pacbrake makes a nice unit

Bob-

Yep way ahead of ya on the Smart Controller, just a matter of my mad money account being a little depleted right now!!! As soon as I can, I will do that. Don't know much about the output shaft other than its a good thing. .

Is the Pac brake electrically operated??

Robin,

I highly reccomend getting and e-brake. I obviously use the B D Brake, and love it. Knowing how much traveling and towing you do I would defenitly get one.
