I have removed the section of duct work between the air filter and the turbo, and replaced it with a pvc contraption I madeup. I was slow at work. what can I say?? What I did was cut a piece of 4" PVC pipe, and glue inbetween 2 PVC Female adapters. Worked like a charm, now I can hear the turbo wind up, it has been inplace for about a week now, the heat shield is doing it's job. the PVC has not melted. If you would like pictures let me know, and I will get some.

Yes, I would be interested in seeing some pictures. What is about your setup that differs from the stock airtube that allows you to hear the turbo?

Cheers, Casey

Casey,

I think you hear the turbo spool up because the PVC is not obstructed in any way, it is a clear shot all the way through, the OEM part is baffled and has a cros type member in it. I will get some pictures of it tomoorrow.

Interesting piece. Looks like it is not restrictive at all, nor does it

look like it was designed to be a sound deadening device. Looks

like the internal X is there to keep the tube from collapsing when

it gets hot and softens up.

You actually noticed a difference in sound, such as louder intake

turbo noise during spoolup?

Greetings,

Or you can save a little time and money and just hacksaw the baffle plate out. Removed mine 2 weeks ago along with the turbo silencer ring. Screams like an F-14 now:D :D :D

The cross section removed. Cut with hacksaw. By the way this is not able to be put back in place once it is removed:eek: . Jeff
