Has anyone successfully modified the passenger side captain seat so it is adjustable or maybe flips forward more so you can load things in the back easier?I know this won't be popular but the interior and seats in my 89 FURD!!! are way better. The pass seat in the ford slides on it's base so you can get into the back or load things easy. The damn dodge one hardly even get's out of the way. Also why is it dodge put the levers for tilting the seat back's on the oposite side of every other manufacturer?Little other things get to me too because the dodge is 3 years newer. Like no pockets on the doors or seat backs, and no little nooks to stick things like my cell phone. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my CTD but dodge seemed to be in the stone age with little things like useable cup holders.

It would be nice if the passenger seat was adjustable. I'm going to weld some steel to the seat support frame to allow me to move the seat forward some. Won't be adjustable, but semi-permanent. My wife doesn't need all the leg room up front, and my kids could use some more room in the club cab. I really like the seats in my truck and can't believe how well they've held up. They look perfect at nearly 140K miles. They make the infamous first gen ride bearable. ;) The monster console is enough storage for me, but the cupholders could be bigger.

Seat mods are on my list of things to do, as well. I have pulled the console and passenger seat in preparation for my just-me-and-the-dawg trip from CA to MI this weekend, and will be twiddling with the seatback pivot while I have it out, in hopes of providing the option for a more upright seat arrangement. I'm also planning to scoot the passenger seat forward when it goes back in... haven't determined whether I'll be moving the seat AND the pedestal, or just the seat relative to the pedestal (the latter looks easier to do and still keep the hydraulic pivot). My wife is a good bit smaller than the dog, so there will be a bit of a legroom trade when all is said and done.

Future plans include swapping the seats side-to-side (that passenger seat is empty most of the time -- I'd rather have the fresher cushion on my side, and that will put the seat pivot actuator outboard where IMHO it belongs)... and one of these days I expect to but a suspension pedestal under the driver's seat... just gotta find the right one at the right price.

Just had to say this. VEGAS and PINTOS had disc brakes in 1971 etc. Dart 340,Cuda 440 and so on it was a special order only. I have shifted from fourth to second with brake light claring and a wheel hoppin threw many a red light in my day. Some things dont seem to change. Hope the 21 century broke that record:D

You should be able to modify your seat. Ijust replaced some parts on my 92 club cab. The seat is hinged in the front and latches in the back. all parts are still available from the dealer. the part #'s for the parts I got are#4358109 front hinge,#4358198latch,#4358210 striker. You will have to get the levers as mine were still good. The dealer should have a computer image of all the remaining parts. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Struck Out...

I finally got a chance to look at the passenger seat I pulled out to make room for the pooch.

Those of you who have replaced the seat pivot, how'd ya get to it? I can't quite get to the anchor bolts, unless I tear up the vinyl skins. :( Perhaps if I could get the flip-down arm off, I'd have more success, but that sucka is stymying me, too. :(

SEATBACK TILT - - - - - - - -

Gettin a more upright seat position ain't gonna happen easily... maybe fill-n-drill the existing holes...

SEAT RAILS - - - - - - - -

Scooting the seat forward on its pedestal is gonna be tough, too. There's room to redrill a couple holes and scoot the seat back on the pedestal  but hardly any room to go forward.

The pedestal is sorta recessed into the seatbottom, so a slider makes sense between the floor and pedestal... but that's where the hinge assembly lives. If I'm willing to make extensive mods to the seat pillar, I can keep the stock fold-n-tumble feature and reposition the chair, but I can't see a way to add a slider AND keep the F-n-T. :(

SEAT SWAPPAGE - - - - - - - -

Swapping the seats side-to-side won't fly, unless you WANT the flip-down armrests outboard instead of inboard. I'm still thinking about swapping the seatbottoms side-to-side, but I need to know more about that pesky pivot.

Pretty much, no joy. :( Anyone got some tips for me (pictures would be GREAT!) on disassembling the seatback pivots?

Randii (that custom suspension pedestal is looking better and better if I gotta do a bunch of custom work anyway)

I moved my passenger seat back and down a little by drilling new holes and moving the spacer washers from the top to the bottom of the piece the seat bolts to.

Don't know if I am remembering correctly but I believe that the passenger seat could be made into a slider by purchasing the slider assembly for the drivers side, the seat could then go further forward but not back if I'm remembering correctly.

My wife wanted more leg and head room, we were used to a standard cab/bench seat and they sit quite a bit lower than the captains chairs.

I would study the slider on the drivers side, I think it would work on the passenger side.

Hope this helps,

Caleb

I used a driver's seat adjustment mechanism to make my passenger's seat movable. You will have to add "shims" to raise the passenger seat so that it will clear its pedestal when it slides foreword. The passenger seat will end up about an inch taller than the driver seat. (most people never notice)

Having a sliding passenger seat has made my extra cab much more usable. I can even seat a medium sized adult in the jump seat now.

leather bucket seats

:) The leather bucket seats that I used have a track on them, the drivers is electric and the passenger is manual. They tip forward and the arm rest flips up. It only takes some 1x1 tubing to fit to the floor of the cab. They are out of a crysler imperial 2 door late 80's model and are quite comfortable. I used a tall center console with cup holders available at most parts houses for the space inbetween. Not a difficult install, just a lot of measuring. If i could figure how to post pics, I would. Tim:)
