Injectors, and possibly hi perf. "cp3"s so far.

The ECM will the trickiest part, with over 10,000 parameters being actively monitered keeping the ECM happy will prove most difficult.

No it won't, you just replace the ECM with one someone else developes.

And HiFi97 asks if we can remove the DPF and EGR from the new trucks ... I say yes! We can do anything we want to the trucks ... its just the consequenses of doing so that might be unwanted.

I know I am going to get a rash of **** for this post, but from the threads I have been reading the DPF doesn't seem to affect performance and the HP/Torq #'s are good, so why not drive a more eco-friendly truck? If we can figure out a way to produce cleaner engines with better mileage it just lessens our dependancy on foreign oil. If they made a hybrid that had the towing capacity and got great mileage I drive it too.

Imagine what will happen when we start adding fuel and creating clouds of soot and the DPF sees all that soot.

It will up the EGT's and try to burn it off.

WHAT! You are going to get some **** for that post and you've got it comming! We want HP, torq "AND" smoke... don't ever forget the smoke.

I have yet to see where new technology didn't scare people. You can go back to the telephone, unleaded gas, computers, credit cards, the internet, direct deposit checks and now (OH MY GOD!) clean fuel and low emissions.

Cummins did a hellava job on this engine and I hope it lasts as long as the 5. 9 ISB. I'm sure it will have bugs but hey... that's what the warrenty's for.

Not everyone buys a vehicle to go to from point A to point B. Some like to swing by Point C, do a burnout, smoke them guys on the side of the road in the Uncle sam outfits begging for your tax refund business on the way to point B.

HAHAHAHA :-laf I wonder if those are all around the US or just here in Minnesota? I laugh at them, how humiliating thats gotta be, wearing the uncle sam outfit, or the lady liberty outfit... . and, is it me, or does it always seem to be an "Indian" person wearing the outfit?

ANYWAY, I dont see why ya'll are afraid of this new engine, kinda retarded if you ask me to not buy a vehicle because its more eco-friendly. Granted, I personally think the Global warming thing is BS, but then again, clean air is nice to breath too.

Give the preformance guys some time, I bet there will be boxes out in no time, and ones that will fool the emissions system so that it doesnt raise the EGTs to clean out the filter on certian power levels.

Plus, I shouldnt even post this as I could built one and market it, but how long before a bypass system is developed? Basicly a cut out that goes around the DPF, but has a actuated butterfly valve ahead of the DPF? And have it combined with a power mod box that when certian levels are turned on, it bypasses the DPF and DPF sensors. This way, it maybe street legal and emissions systems would still be "intact" for the most part, but for the weekend sled pull, can be bypassed when more fuel is dumped in for high HP. Guys, its all computer code, code be hacked. Give it time, hell the non chassis cab 6. 7ltr trucks havent even hit dealer lots yet. I bet by this time next year, what I posted above will probably be in full swing and one hundreds if not thousands of 6. 7ltr engines across the country. AND, dare I say it, give us 12/24v guys a run for our money in the power ranks.

I made one of those guys jump on to his feet the other day when I was making a fast turn. :-laf I guess he didn't like my big ol' (like a buck stop) coming at him at a pretty good rate of speed... Woke his butt up... :D SOOT HAPPENS!!! :D

if no one gets in trouble for the gassers that put in modules that fool the second O2 sensors, why should we?

I say, it your truck. do what you want. who cares about EGR and what not..... Then again, I did have to smoke up a tailgating prius on the way back from lunch today. NO DRAFTING MY TRUCK in your hybrid thank you very much!

That'd be allright..... for a dinosaur :-laf

The DPF, Dual Map Sensors, throttle plate, and getting teh turbo to respond properly will be the boggest iussues aftermarket will have to deal with.

Think of the LLY and newer Duramax's.

EDIT: Getting my fingers to behave will be the first hurdle I will have to cross,, LOL. My typing is horrendous.

If you want smoke you are going to have to do something to the 6. 7. I have over 13,000 miles on mine at this point and you can wipe the inside of the exhaust pipe with a clean white cloth and it will still be clean and white. No soot at all. I'll let someone else mess with the emissions on this truck, I'm sure not going to.
