In general, I believe mods are done to increase performance but never to increase mileage. Sometimes you'll see a mod cross over and yield better MPG along with HP/TQ, but that is usually negated by a heavier foot after the mod (what good is the extra power if you don't use it, right?).

So, if the main goal was to increase mileage, what would you guys do?

Right off the top, I'd first try a free/better flowing exhaust and muffler. I've heard this increased both MPG and HP/TQ. But what else?????

tape uncooked uncracked EGG to accelerator pedal and a tonneau cover. I asked this question before and that summed up most answers.

I like the egg solution!!! :)

But tanneau cover? :confused: This seems similar to the open/closed tailgate debate. I've read that an open or closed tailgate does almost nothing for MPG especially for such a heavy truck like a RAM.

However, a used to own a Toyota Tacoma (I was young and dumb :rolleyes: ) which had a cap. Without the cap, I got worse MPG while with it was better. - maybe by 1-2 MPG. I would have thought the opposite! :confused:

There was a post on here not long ago regarding a study comparing wind resistance between a bed cap, a tonneau cover, and normal p/u bed. The tonneau cover provided the least wind resistance. I can't seem to put my finger on the thread, but I know it's here somewhere. It even had pics showing the wind flow.

Tonneau = bettre mileage

I have the Access roll-up tonneau which keeps the bed dry, yet rolls up against the cab when an open bed is needed. Check my sig line for mileage reports. Not bad for a 3500 LB! I give the tonneau at least part of the credit.

Installed AFE-got slightly lower egt's towing (14,000 lb 5th wheel)-no increase in mileage. Changed oil at 15,000 to Amsoil series 3000 synthetic got maybe . 1 mpg more towing. Installed TST box and after I got used to playing with the power my towing mileage increased from 11. 4 at 65 to 13. 6 at 65. Around town my mileage increased from 17. 4 to 19. 8. Yup I'm happy. :D

No code problems

You've had no code problems? And if not, why not?
