I have an afe stage 1 intake along with mods on my signature. If I put a torque tube and an aero-turbine muffler, will I notice any difference? Any opinions would help. Thanks
Maybe a little on the performance side. Definatly a drop in EGT's though which is always a plus. And in my opinion, Id look elsewhere for a muffler, Im not a fan of the Aeroturbine. But some people like it and thats okay. I saved a little money and went with the MBRP replacement muffler and I love the sound and no resonating. Sounds stock at idle and cruise, but under heavy throttle, it really sounds nice.
Well that's good, because I was kinda looking more at the performance side I'm happy with my MPG now. Also I like the sound of it straight, I just want to get rid of the raspy sound at takeoff. I had a race today and it was close, so I wanted to see if I could get a little more just with air & exhaust.
You'll free up a few HP but it won't knock you in the back seat like adding a module will though. The muffler that JDR is speaking of is technically designed for the 2004. 5+ trucks but with a 3. 5 to 4. 0 adaptor you can use it on the 2003/04 trucks too.
Has anyone just removed the stock muffler from their 2003/04 and straight piped it? I'm curious what the results would be. I'm sure it would be louder, but would it be unbearable? Would performance be compromised?

some like the sound level of the 03/04 straight piped, some don't. you'll have to hear it to see if you like it or not.
would performence be compromised by straight piping it? absolutely not. you will gain a little hp from it, and the turbo will spool a few 100 rpm lower...
Thats what I have now, just stock exhaust straight with a tip. I love the way it sounds at heavy throttle or with a load, but taking off it's a little raspy.
