Hey guys-

Well, finally we got some good rain in SoCal and it is the first time my truck has been in the rain since I bought it. I opened the door after letting it sit out during the rainstorm. Well geez, what a rotton moldy smell I got when I opened the door. I felt the carpet and headliner, no wetness, any other ideas where this smell might be coming from??

My first thoughts on the moldy smell.

1. Gasket around center brake light (on cab) is bad, and letting water trickle in, around the back window, and onto the floor.

2. Leaky heater core, with the smell sort of activated by damp weather.

No. 1 has been reported before. No. 2 happened to me.

Could be dirt leaves, bugs (dead) etc in the vent intake in front of the wind shield ,If you have not added some screen under the plastic vent cover , do so. I would mix a quart of white Vinegir with some warm water and pour it down the vent opening to wash some of the mess out of the under side of the vent area that leads to the Air/heat entry. If it don't get it out it should smell better until you can clean it out. Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY

Hey guys-

I found the culprit however I'm not sure what is leaking just yet.

I have the club cab version and on the passenger side, the back seat against the rear of the cab is soaked. Only on that side though... . Could this be the third brake light or maybe the sliding rear window????

Thanks

Erik
