President Bush's speech.....

Well a week from today I head out to Seattle to meet up with my father, Brother in Law (Rob Hansen) and his friend to go out on a 8 day moose hunt in Quesnel BC. Hope our trip over the border is not too difficult but we are giving alot of time for the border part. We have been planning this for years and now its time. Rob and I are going to try to sliver flick a moose with our Bows. Not real sure how that will go but I hope I dont miss. Will post some pics when I return after the 15 of oct. Wish us luck and good memories. :D

I was out moose hunting last night. See moose all the time, but I never have my gun! Is it a bow only season during the rut when you will be hunting? Sounds like that would be fun!

No its not bow only so we will give bows a try for a couple days. Then out come the lightning rods. Looking forward to the experience. Are you familiar with the general area. What is the weather like this time of year. Is it wet.

We just came back from a succesful moose hunt last Friday. As far as the weather goes, generally it should be not too bad, but we have experienced rain, snow and sunshine all in the same day. Just in case the weather is warm make sure to take along some "bug stuff" those mosquitoes and no-seeums can bite, also vinegar and pepper keeps the flies of the meat. Hope you have a good time and good luck.

Good luck.

Many hunters didn't have very good hunts this year in interior Alaska. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the larger bulls didn't seem to be moving. A lot of the small local bulls were taken in the first few days of the season. Cooling the meat has also been a concern. Hope things go well for you. Have fun!

JAnderson, a good friend of mine and his parents live in Quesnel. If you need info or help with anything, just give him a call. His name is Ross Crutchley, phone 250-992-7896. His dad's name is Bill, but I forgot his number right now. Also, try to catch the lunch show at the Green Door downtown if it's still open. Have fun, I've been there a number of times and thought if I ever had to move somewhere besides Wyoming, it would be British Columbia.

I was out hunting again this morning. The only moose I saw was a dead one somebody else shot.

It should not be very wet at all. Just take the advice of AlK, and be prepared for anything. The coldest it may get is about -10c or 14 F. Also the mosquitos are big and wear toques! Quesnel is about 6 or seven hours south of where I live, so I can't give you much more advice. Never hunted the area. Chances are the weather will be great, cooling of in the evenings and just right for a cold blooded Canadian during the day! (right around freezing)

Thanks everyone for the insight. I am real excited for the hunt. Everything is packed and ready to go.

Wyo steve thanks for the number. Rob called them to get a local hotel number and we have a room for the night now without any worries. :D

We are a little concerned about how hard it is going to be to get into and out of canada with whats all going on. Hope we get in pretty easy. If we get stuck there for a while oh-well.

Keep the remarks coming and good luck to all the hunters out there. The season our wifes dread is upon us.

My wife says this time of year she either has to quack like a duck or wear horns to get my attention. Well as long as she knows it all is well. :D :D

Moose Hunt

We are going up October,19 and will be going about 30 miles east of Dryden that is about 150 miles north of International Falls.

Some friends of ours have a moose camp and invited us to come along again as we were there two years ago. We had a grate time and drank alot of Blue. :D

Good Luck to all Moose hunters

Fellas, I don't think that the border will be a major hassle, just time-consuming. One thing: PLEASE don't try to bring a handgun into Canada. If they find it, it will surely ruin your day... and probably your trip. For everybody. At least, our border guards aren't issued handguns..... and considering who they hire, that's a good thing. I suggest crossing at either Aldergrove or Sumas. They're smaller crossings, less likely to be jammed up.

Good luck on your trip, and have a great time!

"If everyone was issued a handgun at birth, everyone would be much, much more polite!":D :D :D
