I just attempted to order a complete new linkage and steering box to upgrade my 07 gen 3. The dealer indicated the pitman arm which comes with the big box is part number 68141515AA and will not work on my truck - I have to order 68039930AA pitman arm for my truck. My truck is all stock - still with all original linkage from when it was built in 11/06. It has never been updated.

I've had other sources tell me the arm 68141515A which comes with the box will work as long as I am updating the linkage to the 08.5 at the same time.

Is 68039930AA the right pitman arm? Seems odd that the box ships with another pitman arm that I would have no use for.

As it stands right now it appears I need the following to be complete - is this list missing anything?:

Part # Item
52122362AJ Steering Linkage
68039930AA Pitman Arm
6505623AA Tie Rod End Nuts
68170214AA Power Steering Gearbox (Mopar upgrade)
Bilstein Damper (aftermarket)

I ordered mine from stevewhite parts and the only thing he needed was the VIN to send me the correct parts to Switzerland.
So may you need a better Vendor.

I got the fully upgrade, steering box and linkage.

I think the problem is you are trying order for an early truck and it is messing up the system, and parts man. The 08.5+ steering linkage comes with a choice of 2 tie rod ends to fit the pitman arm. You need one to fit the early style pitman arm. The other fits the the late pitman arm.

Ordering the linkage and box for an 09 truck should solve the problem. The actual tie rods ends at the wheel are the same, the pitman arm end is the difference.

Be prepared to order a new power steering pump and\or remove or modify the flow regulator in new box. The later PS pumps have more pressure and flow which I suspect the box needs to operate correctly. Have neem some issues with the flow regulator possibly causing hard steering if th epump and it are not matched.

I like the way it is now, old pump with new box, it's more a European Car, very good road feel and still easy to turn but sure not to turn with one finger like an old Cadillac.

Ozymandias - followed your advice and went with stevewhite parts. They were able to clarify that the steering box can be used with the new or old linkage - and it does have the right pitman arm with it to use with the new linkage as well as the old linkage. It includes a tie rod end which allows you to use the new box and pitman arm with the old (Haltenberger) style linkage. The bottom line is no pitman arm purchase is necessary if you are using this box with a stock (non-lifted) truck.

What was the part number of the pitman arm you received? thanks...

I also have a 2007 Ram 3500. So if I try to upgrade to the 68170214AA steering box, will I have to replace my add-on Synergy 8558-04 Steering brace?

I have a new box and old pump, its ok but does require more effort. I pulled out the flow regulator/check valve in the box and that did help aswell

Yeah,Strapt has different experiences with the new box also.
It just doesn't seem like engineering and spec'ing out a proper box with longevity and good action would be that difficult.
