Mopar add on Remote Start

On my 2007.5 I installed a Mopar remote start kit (it has the separate remote) in 2011. It has worked good. The last couple days when I get in truck to start with key, I turn key to run and wait for “wait to start” light to go out. When I turn the key to start nothing happens except the check engine light flashes until I let key return to run position. I can turn key off and start it using the remote start feature. Once it starts I can turn key to run and it runs as normal. I have 3 keys and it doesn’t matter which key I use. Yesterday after truck warmed up it started ok with the key. Any good ideas? I am going on a medical trip in a couple weeks and need to solve this.

I don’t think it’s the skreem module as remote door locks work and once started remotely it keeps running with key at run position. Could the ignition switch be the problem?

I do not know, however there is another poster with the same user name that has the same problem!

When I went out last night I started it with remote without trying key first. I drove it about 15 miles then shut it off for a couple hours. When I got in to return the 15 miles I tried the key and it started. May be some cold temp issue. But don’t know yet if inside cab temp or underhood temp. I am staying st hospital with my wife so it’s not at home where I can try it cold and then put heater in cab and try it again.

6 months. The last 3 days it has started ok with rhe key.

Ok, so not the battery. I would concur the ignition switch is then the most likely issue. I seem to recall some other threads where the ignition switch was an issue.

clean the contacts to starter and ign. w/deoxit and also make sure the starter is grounded correctly

It’s not the starter as it started fine with remote starter. For the past 10 days it has started fine with the key. Maybe a glitch that cured itself. We have cold weather next week so will see if that affects it.
