Mopar Fuel Filter Rip-Off

I went the my 5 Star dealer parts department this afternoon for fuel filter. $47. 50!!!
You have got to be kidding. I told Mike(the parts guy)that Pro Fleet on Hwy 99 in Elk Grove changed my oil(11 qts Dello 400), oil filter, fuel filter, checked my transmission fluid, added air to my tires,and lubed by front end for only $80. 00 total. The parts guy said my fuel filter must not have been a 'quality' filter. I told him that they installed both oil and fuel filters from Baldwin. He said they are pretty good. Anyway, I didn't buy MOPAR's fuel filter. Maybe Brandon can find a cheaper but good one and change mine in Modesto tomorrow at his service station.

DON'T get 'em from D/C, just get a Fleetguard (the best stock filter canister filter option available IMO).

<font color = red> <font size = 4> FS1268 </font color = red> </font size = 4> is the PN to ask for. Cost ya about $13 or $14 smackers and you can get 'em from Geno's Garage if you can't find them locally.

personally i think the mopar box is pretty tight... ... . but the fleetgaurd box will do with a good price we can supply them to you sat if you want robby

I just changed my oil and fuel filter on my '00 Ram last night at work. On my lunch break,I ran down to Cummins NW and paid 5. 34 for the Fleetguard oil filter and 15. 78 for the Fleetguard fuel filter.
I always buy factory brand filters for all my cars,but I never buy them from the car dealers themselves.

I went to NAPA and bought their Gold fuel filter and it has Stratophore (sp?) on it. I think was about 8 10 bucks

I got my t-stat at a Cummins authorized dealer for 20. 25 last week. Check the Cummins site(www.cummins.com)and see if there is an authorized dealer near you. You would be suprised to see who can get Cummins stuff for you. There's 4 in my area alone. Two are heavy truck dealers and two are diesel repair companies.

I guess just because it says Mopar they think they can charge double what Fleetguard does. After all it is a Fleetguard filter just painted mopar color with there number on it. I bought one once when I was out of filters but no more. I stock up on oil and fuel filters,

There outta be a law!!!! I went to Lithia Dodge in Medford OR to get a fuse. One of the square ones. The fuse for my trailer wiring fried. They wanted $4. 95!! I thought the guy was pulling my leg!! He was serious. What's a guy to do? They have the only game in town.

As I was ploping down my hard earned cash, a fella behind me comes in with a fractured taillight lens asking if they have it in stock. The other clerk quickly says "$79. 95 for the assembly. " Setting his jaw with his chin up, squinting down his nose, he leaned forward slightly, awaiting the old guys reaction... .

The guy says "I only wanted the lens. How much for the lens without the assembly?"

"$79. 95. It only comes WITH the assembly" was his reply and he crossed his arms across his chest and smugly stared at the guy, almost challenging him to argue.

By this time the other clerk had completed my fleecing and I wanted to get out, but was distracted by the drama to my left. I wanted to come to the old guy's aid, but I was rather shocked by the parts guy's challenging demenor. He was looking for a fight! He wanted to argue about the price and I just knew he wanted to say the age old parts counter line, "Well do you want it or not?"

I am ashamed to admit that I bailed out and left the guy to fend for himself, but it wasn't as if he really needed me. In a calm voice I heard him say as I went out the door, "Well, I guess I'll just tape some red celophane over the hole... . You can keep your assembly!"

Why in the hell do dealer's screw us so on parts????? It seems so short sighted. I expect someone to make a profit, but they GOUGE! #ad

This seems to be the common approach at DC dealers. This past summer I was prepping to go to a Jeep Jamboree and found that the boot on my front driveshaft was torn off. Three different dealers told me that the only way I could get a boot was to purchase the entire driveshaft! Went to a speedshop, picked up a Rancho shock boot for $4. 95 and used it instead. Its still in place and holding just fine.

Hello, Geno's Garage online! can buy individual or a bunch, and even with shipping real resonable for the fleetguard oil and fuel filters. just a couple of mouse clicks away don't have to ride around looking for what you need.

I paid the $31. 75 for the Mopar Fuel Filter and another $9. 79 for the Mopar Oil Filter because these so Cummins shops in my area doesn't stock either item--but next time I am going to have them order them for me. No problems draining/change fuel filter--except the o-ring needed lubed up a bunch so it would slide around while tightning up the cap. 7500 on truck-second oil change-first fuel filter change--original filter was perfect to look at.

If you folks realy want sticker shock on a fuel filter you need to call the brand new dealership in Wilsonville, OR (Town-n-Country Dodge) - I think they wanted me to pay for the service equipment that was sitting idle in the repair bay

Are ya sitting down? - $56. 94. All I could do was laugh out loud and tell the counter person to keep it and I would order 3 from the Baldwin distributor for that cost.

I sure will!The way it works is that most all the auto parts that carry Wix filters won't have all the filters you need,as long as you get a list of the filters you want to them before the sale they will order them in and write up the invoice during the sale period. There hasn't been one filter ever for me that Wix couldn't match,I have a strong feeling that Wix makes a lot of the OEM filters and puts other names on them.

This is why I always have negitve things to say about my dealer... ... ... ..... Because my dealer is the one you said in Medford!! LITHIA YUCK! These guys have lost 3 trucks sales to me as well they just dont get it... . If I can drive 3 hours and save 5k on a truck for the exact same truck do they really think im going to still buy off them? Do you think they would come down to match the price? Hell no. I gave them 3 chances... This is my 3rd cummins. I just pray i have nothing go wrong for warranty. Im at 14k from August so another 6-9 month ill be off warranty. Sorry for rambleing I still get pi$$ed when i think about it.
