Usually, I wouldn't buy MOPAR aftermarket stuff but the nerfs the dealer had put on my 98' gasser years ago held up well. The black Westin Platinum Series bars I put on my 02' were a joke.

Just putting the Westin bars on my smooth garage floor scratched the paint. One of the step pads was warped from the get go. The mounting hardware was a bit cheesy. I actually had the bars welded to the truck because I didn't trust the mounting hardware. I must have gone through twenty step pads in the seven years I had the truck. The step pads inserts were soft plastic so they would bend or sheer off easily.

The new MOPAR nerf I bought have a cool black finish that's a little textured looking. The bars are oval in shape and the end tapers back towards the bed of the truck. The mounting hardware bolted up perfectly and required no mods. The step pads are durable and should last forever.

I had liked the way the nerf bars with the steps welded on looked but they just weren't very functional. I wanted bars that looked good but would actually be safe and functional for the wife and kids.

My dealer matched an internet price of $315 for the bars that was a much better deal than the high $399 list price. If your looking for a well built set of bars these will do the trick.

I have never seen the nerf bars in the black finish. Looks sharp.

After this winter driving season I am planing to take off the plastic end caps and power wash the salt and road grime out. Hope it will extend the life.

I had a pair "GO RHINO " ? ones on my 03 when I bought it. They were totally rusted out. The PO had travelled to the East a lot with the truck as we don't use salt much out here. Too cold most of the time. I will replace them with " boards " instead of bars, as I don't like bars and boards protect the body as well as give you something to stand on. Shadrach

Running boards tend to be much more popular with your grey haired crowd. My dad who's in his upper 60's is a running board die hard. I'm still a spring chicken at 39!

What are you saying??? :-laf However I do agree. While I don't have any grey hairs I do have some "light blonde" ones in my beard. When you drive through lots of snow boards protect the body whereas bars just collect the snow. Shadrach
