purchased truck and t cover in dec 2004. after several months rainwater would puddle in small area between the support bows. truck is parked for 6-7 days sometimes thus no driving to sling the water off between showers. In late July, during a heavy all day rain, the t cover self destructed due to excessive puddling of water. the two rearmost bows collapsed and the plastic corner connectors of the framework broke. this allowed the side rails to be jerked away from the truck bed rails. all happened instantly. i was sitting at window, on the computer when it happened. the noise caused me to look up and see some of the bows flying across the yard and into my honey's bmw.
at the dealer talking to the service writer, he said it was warranted by DC for 3/36 so they would order a 'complete' new kit/cover assembly. twice i went in for replacement but parts werre missing. thought it was a 'complete kit' so i growled at them the second time. yesterday i went in 3rd time for replacement. just before work started the dealership manager came to me and said DC would not cover it as it was an act of God if it was damaged by rain and its an accessory not covered under the 3/36 warranty. i said it is the sole purpose of the cover to repel rainwater, thus it was a defect in design or material that caused the damage. so the dealer paid for replacement and asked me to tell DC if they called me that rainwater was the sole cause of problem so the dealer could get credit for it.
if this one doesnt last longer, i'll surely go with a different cover next time.
