I just got the call that the new truck is in but I have to wait til next week to pick it up. I'll have a 350 mile drive home to take it all in. I have a question about the dash though. I have the laramie package, but I'm not that big on the satin inserts they use on the dash. I've done quite a bit of lookin' around and would like a wood dash, but I don't want to cheese it up with a cheap product.

Has anyone picked up the Mopar Wood dash kit... . if so, how was the fitment of the pieces, quality of the wood and overall look? I'd rather have it done before I pick it up, but I don't want the big let down if I have the dash done and it's cheese. A picture would be worth 1000 words. Thx

You can get a real rosewood cover panels for you truck from Dodge. They don't look anything like the fake thing that comes with a Laramie. I bought them and although they're kinda spendy at $160, they look very nice.

I used the Mopar kit, which included the four doors--- The finish was very good --- however, start with the doors--- the tuna can finish is not to be removed---- allow for about a quarter inch border of tuna can being exposed @ the front, back and top of the burl rosewood kit. secondly, install the trim piece aroung the pwr window button. The driver's pwr window piece is the toughest on the doors--- the control point is the center above the four window switches--- stick this interior point first and then expand the perimeter of the drvrs piece to leave a uniform border. Practice 5 times, remove the backer tape and stick the interior first!

To cover the "tuna can" finish on the center dash start from the top down --- the instructions call for the reverse of this--- Wrong!

The critical aspect of the instaliation is for the next downard piece to meet unifornally with the preceeding piece so as to form a beveled joint hortizonally with the second or third piece, depending on where you are in the process.

I am very satified with miine--- the glare disapeared @ installation.
