Last May I took my truck in for its 30,000 transmission service, we lived in Lakehurst, NJ at the time. In July I retired from the Navy and started for my new job in Harrisburg, PA. The day I was to start out the transmission wouldn't shift correctly... it wouldn't go from 1st to 2nd without letting up on the accelerator, and if I did that too soon, it would shift right back down to 1st. This was very frustrating.

Since I wasn't able to go back to the dealer in Toms River, I had to go to the Dodge place in Carlisle, PA. They found the problem and fixed it... I am now in a letter writing campaign with the Toms River place... anyway to make a long story longer... the transmission is now doing strange things:

Turning left (never when turning right) it doesn't want to shift from first to second until Iv've completely made the turn, then it "slams" into second.

When it is cold (and we have had some cold mornings here in Central PA) it doesn't seem to start in 1st gear... and occasionally when I come to a stop sign, it shifts down late: come to a stop then "thump," now it is in first gear.

Anyway there are other such symptoms but I don't want to bore you with further details... anybody having any similar problems? Any suggestions? I am very leary of going back to any dealer at this point... they seem to test it and just check codes and say everything is fine. Very frustrating.

Scott, I had the same problem a while back turned out the strut for the front band was broken. If this is what they fixed I have not had any problems since (6000 miles) . The shifting problem on turns sounds like a fluid level problem or maybe the wrong fluid was put in , I would check the fluid and also maybe check the front band adjustment to see if they adjusted it right. Hope this helps. .

LMAO at the DTT comment.....

Take it to a different dealer... . and DEMAND the tech guy take a ride with you. If he's of no help go up the comman chain... . be persistant but don't get rude. Hope it works out for you.
