Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) more boost please

how much can i turn the screw on the boost elbow of my stock turbo for just alittle more boost. the truck is basically stock but i wouldn't mind more boost in a safe range? any pics would help since i am a novice on upgrades and i do not know anything about turbos

If your truck is basically stock, you can probably turn the screw as far as you want. It is pretty much impossible to overboost a 35 with stock fueling. I'd bet if yo uhave the 215 pump, the most you could see is about 25psi with stock fueling. Maybe 27-28 with the stock plate foward.

No need for pictures. Just take an allen wrench that fits the elbow and tighten. Easy as it sounds.

Near the back of the afc housing (near the top passenger side) there is a barbed fitting to a rubber line that goes to the wastegate canister on the turbo, If you have an elbow it will be in place of that brass barbed fitting. If your truck is stock it will most likely not have the elbow.

i can hit 25psi on my truck without a boost fooler. i slid the plate forward but that didnt change the effort it takes me to hit 25psi. boost fooler coming fri im not sure but i dont think more boost will help you unless your adding fuel.

thats what i am trying to find out. my 96 is stock except improved air flow at both ends. i was wondering if i delivered more boost would i feel more power without delivering more fuel. i can't find anyone in my area (southern new jersey) that knows how to tweak my pump. i'm not gonna touch it.

Prob. wont make more boost without more fuel. You can just plug your wastergate up by the AFC also to get more boost. You wont have to worry about overboosting until you really start pushing a lot of fuel. 35 PSI is what seems to be too much and past that I guess it loses effieciency. I had mine up to 45-52PSI quiet a few times before I hooked the wastegate back up so my stock turbo would last until I got the new one. Add more fuel with an eblow installed or plugged wastegate and you will get more boost.



If you buy a TST power kit it comes with a fitting to install to replace the stock fitting up by the AFC. When I installed a #11 I was making 32-33 PSI with the plate in the stock position. These kits are very easy to install with very good instruction. I had never been in my pump and had the plate installed in about an hour by taking my time not to mess anything up.
