I have been looking for several years for a replacement for my oem fuel tank or perhaps some type of saddle tank to go a head of the wheel wells but can't seem to find anything from trans-flo or anybody. It seems that my crew cab short box is the configuration no one is interested in for added fuel except behind the cab full width. I have a Polaris RZR UTV that I regularly load in my box that needs 52 inches width and the full length of box. I think it would take at least 15 gallons to make it worthwhile. Any ideas?

I looked to, the guys at transfer-flow (nice guys talked for 1/2 hr on market strategy) he said the demand wasn't there for a mass produced tank that is vehicle specific, shortbed only, other tanks fit longbed and duallys and the demand for longer range for vehicles towing big loads is a better marketing return, SO, brother,we are left out in the cold with only a pityful little 35 gal tank. (700+miles) My bladder STILL hasnt let me go a full tank without a pitstop. Back to your payload problem,I have a arctic cat prowler that has to be hauled during hunting season, andfall roundups (cows) I built a set of ramps to ride over my cross bed tool box, leave the tailgate down and strap it good,so I dont put it in the back seat if I hit the brakes hard. cant get in the box with it in the bed, but after i discovered this little problem, I know to be prepared, it works pretty good, and I dont have to tow a trailer.

I will see if I can get a picture of the Aux tank I just bought for my crewcab project from what I understand it was hand made and fit's right where the sparetire goes . You are talking about a first gen crew Right ?

no this is 2nd gen forum, so my response was for my 99 qcsb your signature didnt have your truck so I assumed it was a 2nd gen

I realize this is a 2nd gen thread but the Aux tank discussion is current and I have a question you guys may be able to help with.

I too have a short bed and have a full size tool box behind the cab. What I plan to do is buy a 12 gal, above-deck marine tank and put it inside my tool box. I haven't decided just how to plumb it into the main tank yet beyond using a small universal pump and possibly a solenoid shutoff.

Can I tap into the filler neck and/or vent tube without setting off CELs for cap open?

Would having both a feed line and a vent from the aux to the filler/vent resolve the possibility. This should allow the tanks to equalize pressure.

I read the posts about the open "vents" on top of the tanks and wondered if one could be used. My concern was essentially blocking off at least one with the hose from the pump. If it works, it should be the easiest and cheapest way to do it. why haven't I read of others connecting to these vents for pump discharge. Is there a reason?
